Just got her A1C back & it was 12. It wan't even 12 when she was 1st diagnosed. During the last 3 months, she's under new care & they wanted to get her #s tighter, so we did fasting tests, etc & the last 2 months she's been having all the throwing up issues. I really hope she doesn't get too discouraged. She tends to take it personally. I'll be on the phone w/ the nurse tomorrow. Crap. I hate days like this. Oh well, we're headed to WDW. I'm just worried that instead of having a fun, relaxing time. We'll be focusing on her numbers. :rolleyes2

How old is your daughter? When my daughter was 12/13, they were pretty bad years. She was sick a lot, lots of overnight hospital visits with IVs. After lots of investigation, we discovered that she wasn't always truthful when telling us what her numbers were. We thought things were fine and then her A1C was 11. We couldn't understand it because she had been bumped to 4 needles/day. It turned out that she wasn't doing her injections properly (although she had been diabetic for 5 years). She seemed to be the model daughter but was rebelling against her body. When we discovered this, we put her on an insulin pump. Life changed! She has been doing wonderfully well since (3 years). I couldn't believe she would do this! She was knowledgeable and very informed about her body. The problem is 12 and 13 year old girls are sometimes difficult to figure out. Check everything thoroughly. Good luck! :)

Thank you - DD just turned 12 & yes, we've been trusting her. Have a new baby & things are a bit crazy. Guess I need to just suck it up & deal w/ it. LOL DD is on a pump, but maybe she's not testing BS. We went through that before she had her pump. She hated finger sticks. I asked her how she was doing insulin & she said she was guessing. Now she uses the freesytle flash (wonderful) & tests on her arm. Her meter is in her pump. She, too is very body smart. Sounds like we have similar DDs
