We are going to be in the World this March for my daughter's 3rd B-day and would love some advice on what to do to make it extra special.

We did the castle and boutique last visit (older daughter) so want to do something different this time. She likes Ariel/Tinkerbell or Minnie Mouse.

I looked into the Disney Florist - a bit expensive!

Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks for the advice.

I'd take her to 1900 Park Fare for dinner. Cinderella, stepsisters, Prince Charming and Lady Tremaine are all there. They're a real hoot! Also, you could order her the special Cinderella castle cake or the Cinderella's slipper dessert. Check the cake gallery thread for pics.

Castle cake is post #5 and the slipper dessert is #11.:goodvibes

Try http://www.memoriesbybetsy.com/Memories_by_Betsy/Welcome.html . She does some really cute things and is wayyyy cheaper than disney florist. You can choose from any number of themes. When my son celebrated his birthday he got a basket with a pirate theme. I told her what I wanted and she went shopping at WDW. She is wonderful to work with. The basket she puts the gifts in are disposable, but that is okay with me. Less stuff to drag home! They were at the desk upon check in. You can either have them delivered to your room after you check in, or you can pick it up right then.
Also, have your resort send up balloons and a card from her favorite character (some aren't available). My boys both got Mickey. This is free! The only resort that can't do this is AKL, due to the balloons posing a safety hazard to the animals outside.
Make sure she wears a birthday pin everyday during your trip and note her birthday on both your hotel ressie and ADRs. You may already know that they will bring her a special dessert or cupcake if they are aware it is her special day.
What about a quick stop at the mainstreet barber shop for a little "pixie dust" in her hair? Quicker and cheaper than BBB.
Of course, breakfast at Chef Mickeys might be great since she loves Minnie. And make sure she gets to visit Pixie Hollow to see Tink!
If they have birthday balloons in the park, buy her one and tie it to the stroller.
Maybe buy her the My girl disney doll with either the minnie dress or the tinkerbell dress. A little pricey, but cute!
Stop at one of the bakeries and get her a cake. The Mickey head ones are cute. I think the Main st. bakery has them and the one on the Boardwalk.
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know!
BTW, where are you staying?

DD is doing BBB first thing in the morning. I was then thinking of doing the castle for breakfast but it gets such mixed reviews. Now I'm strongly considering 1900 Park Fare for dinner!

We did the CRT a couple of years ago. The food is just okay, but the castle inside is very pretty and it makes such a special experience for the child. My DD was not quite 3 on her first and only trip. She still remembers it. Soooo...for her upcoming 5th birthday in a few weeks She is getting beautified at the BBB and then dining in the castle for breakfast... and then for dinner she is eating at 1900 Park Fare. The castle really hurts my wallet, but oh well.

We've done this dinner 3 times and it's always fun! The restaurant itself is so pretty and the buffet very good. However, it's the characters that steal the show. This was by far our favorite character meal. Cinderella is so sweet and kind, just like the movie. Lady Tremaine is very stiff and looks down her nose at you, it's soooo funny! She kept telling my girls 'ladies, grace and poise!' The stepsisters are hilarious! They are loud and funny and totally in character making their rounds from table to table. One of them asked my DD's if they knew how to do chores like windows, floors, feed the cat etc. She said if they did, then they could all come live with her! They danced around the restaurant with their prince charmings which were of course the poor unsuspecting men eating there! This past time one of the steps went wild over this older gentlemen who looked like Santa! It reminded me of that part from Elf where Buddy yells out 'Santa!!!' She kept periodically going back to his table to tell him what she wanted for Christmas! Seriously, my DH and I were laughing so hard. It's a must do for us and I highly recommend it.:thumbsup2

You could do Akershus. Ariel was there for us for lunch along with Belle greeting, Cinderella, Aurora & Snow White! It was fantastic! I think Ariel has been more regular there. We enjoyed lunch (my entree was just ok), but the cold buffet & desserts were fabulous! The kids had pizza & ravioli, along with the cold buffet & they ate it up! For my birthday, they gave me a cupcake and a signed card from the princesses & waiter!

I know you said you wanted to do something different, but I really don't think you can beat the castle for special. I would do BBB then followed by CRT for a magical day. Then you can order the glass slipper dessert for your DD. I also celebrated my birthday at CRT and got a cupcake & a signed card from the princesses. They also decorated by table with carriage confetti (looked like Cinderella's carriage).

I agree that Memoriesbybetsy is more affordable than the Disney Florist. We have ordered from both in our past trips and happier with Betsy basket...it has more stuff in it and way better price...you can tell her what you want included but Disney Florist tells you wants in the baskets already.

We celebrated my son 3rd birthday in Disney also and he still remembers all the things we did for him and the trip. He wants his 5th birthday celebration there again but we told him maybe his 6th birthday b/c we are going in May (better timing for dad). We took him to character meals and 3 restaurants I have ordered specialized cake. He loved Chef Mickey character meal, Tusker House Character Breakfast (they gave him a cupcake and the CM told him he had to blow out the candle 3x since he was turning 3 and while he was doing this Donald came over and dance while the CM's were singing happy birthday to him) then Mickey came over and held my son hands as they lead to a musical parade. We had lunch at Hollywood and Vine where they sing and dance ever 15 mins and he loved it b/c he thought they were celebrating his birthday and then the CM brought out a specialized cake and Leo came over to help out the celebration. We went to LTT character dinner (when they used to have character meal and I had a Mickey Head cake) and Goofy came to the talbe when the CM where singing and the characaters spend alot to time with him and dancing. Cape May character breakfast has a blast and during our meal the CM came over with a brownie cake and Minnie came over while the CM sang Happy Birthday and Minnie and Goofy post together with my son (supposively they dont post at the same time but since it was his birthday the rest of the characters had a group photo op too). He had suprises in our room. Balloons and card was sent to our room from the resort. We did take him to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner. Dinner the food was horrible but the experience was great. The character interaction was amazing. Cinderella came to our table and asked my son for a dance...they dance to a whole song and then the steps sister ran over to him and asked if he wants to dance with either of them and he said no. Then the step mother came over and said you will marry one of my daughter and she pointed to them and he told her no b/c he will not marry anyone. We all had a good laught but the whole time was picture moment for me and a video moment for dance. My shy little boy (at the age he never went to anyone) and when Cinderalla came over to asked him to dance he looked at me with a smile and I said its ok to go with her and he had the biggest grin on his face. He had an amazing 3rd birthday and it was worth it to me. Hope this helps. I had a special birthday crown that I bought at babiesrus and he wore it when we went to Mickey House and they let him spend over 5 mins private time with us in room with Mickey Mouse (I think the photopass photographer got over 70 great pictures).

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas.

Has anyone done the tea party, is it the $200 one at the Grand Floridian?

Thanks for the great ideas, we are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.
