Can I be on the deluxe plan for half our trip and then transfer to the the regular dining plan for the rest?

We want to go to extra table service restaurants but not everyday.

Thanks

I don't know exactly how this works, so wait until an expert can provide a concrete answer. But here's my understanding.

You can switch, but you would probably have to check out and back into the resort. I'm not sure how this affects park tickets however.

I'm pretty sure you cannot on the same reservation.

I think would just eat at a couple of the 2TS places and maybe share some of the other meals at places that have large servings. DH & I share at Sunshine Seasons, WP, etc.

You would have to have two reservations with two ticket packages.

Like you we wanted extra TS. We're doing the luau which uses up 2 credits plus we wanted both lunch & dinner TS on our EPCOT day since DH enjoys dining in the different countries.

So we'll pay OOP for the least expensive TS's. Since the DDP doesn't include appetisters, we'll probably get an appy & share an entre for the ones we pay OOP, for sure the lunch at Epcot.

I think this is easier than trying to check in & out of your resort to get 2 different dining plans, JMO. Plus, depending upon how you use your CS & snacks, you don't want to have to worry about using them all up midtrip or losing them.

The only way to do this is to book it as different reservations. The problem with this (unless you are an AP holder and book one part as an AP ticketless package), is that you have to have tickets for each one.

So, the savings for changing plans is usually eaten up by the extra money for tickets (although those can be saved for future use). And, when you have two different reservations, you do have to check out/in and can ask to stay in the same room, but I don't think they can guarantee you that you can.

Unless you have an AP (and are paying-Free dining not included) then it requires another package. It could be a good way to check out a different resort.

If you want to switch DDP mid trip, then even AP holders must book another reservation. I know this past May I had the DxDDP for four nights, then the basic DDP for four nights. Even as an AP holder I had to make two reservations (one with the DxDDP and another with the basic DDP). I originally wanted all eight nights at CSR, but since there was a chance I'd have to change rooms anyway midtrip, I decided to do a split stay at CSR and AKL. It worked out great.

If you don't have an AP or are not staying on DVC points, then you'd also be required to buy at least one day park tickets for each reservation, so it may not be such a good idea.
