DDP - worth it for us?

we're considering an onsite trip this year because we'd only be staying a week versus our regular 2 and flying instead of driving. dbf wants to do the dining plan because without it we spent $60 per person per day last year anyway. do you think it's worth it? i kind of only want to do it if we get the deluxe plan, but he doesn't think we need that much food. i think we would still end up paying for an additional CS meal with the DDP almost daily because we typically skip breakfast, eat a CS lunch, TS dinner, and then a few hours later we're usually still out and about and so we have another CS meal. is the DDP worth it if this is what we do?

It sounds like the regular DP is what you want. 1 TS & 1 CS plus snack for about half of DDP. the cost of an extra CS meal would still be cheaper. That being said, if you're going to a lot of signature restaurants then the DDP may be closer in cost.

I used the online spreadsheet when I was trying to figure out what to do. It was a real eye-opener! Since we're planning to do "continental" type breakfasts (think snack credits), all TS lunches, and 3 of 4 dinners will be at signatures, the DDxDP was by far the most cost-effective way for us to go. Our savings for our 4-night trip is $240.36 from what the same meals would cost out-of-pocket! I'll probably use Disney Visa Rewards Dollars for the tips and some adult beverages, which will make the savings even greater.

I looked at a menu just at one place DH plan on eating at and figured a meal there would be at least $50 for the 2 of us, that convienced me, i was then sold on the DDP

I would definitely suggest getting a DP. Your decision is whether you think your extra cost above the $45 will amount to to the difference in the DPs, about $33 /person /day. We've done both and the DDP was nice but it was a lot of food. You also get another snack and the mug so that may factor into the equation.
