DDP without a package?

I am planning a WDW trip for next summer. I think that the DDP is my best option. I do not want to purchase a vacation package because i feel i can save more when i purchase everything separately. However, I have been searching around and so far all I have seen is a dining plan option when you buy a package. I am wondering if you purchase a DDP without purchasing the Magic Your Way package?

The only way to get it without a package is a DVC reservation on points.

DebbieB is correct. You cannot add the DDP to a room only ressie. It is a package option only.
