Hello all--

I'm thinking about tagging along on a visit my parents are taking and staying in their DVC room. They were considering getting the DDP, but they're going to be there for 7 nights and I'd only been there for 2-3 nights.

We know that everyone in your party needs to book the DDP for the length of the trip-- but what happens if my length of trip is shorter than theirs, even though I'm staying in the same room? Would they be able to book the DDP for 7 nights, and I could book for 3, or would this mess up their plan to go on the DDP?

Thanks!

It would mess up their plans to be on the DDP. They would have to pay for a full 7 day DDP for you. Disney doesn't care if you're there or not.

The only way you could get around this is for your parents to check in and then add you to the reservation afterwards. Then you would not be on the DDP at all, and you wouldn't be able to take ME from the airport.

They can split their reservation in half. A 4 night reservation with just them in the room and on the ddp. Then a 3 night reservation where all three of you have the ddp. The problem is that if they call to split the reservation they could possibly loose their days when they canceled the original reservation. Especially if the trip is soon or during a popular DVC time of year. So not something I would recommend.

If they put you on the ddp maybe they could have a few 2 credit TS meals. Then all of you could find snacks that you could take home? Just a thought.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's a little silly for me to pay for 7 days when I'll only be there for 3. They were undecided on the DDP so I think we'll go out of pocket on this trip -- I appreciate all the info before they booked anything!

They could pay for you for all 7 days and then they can use your dining points. Not a bad idea if they are interested in eating at some of the signature 2 point restaurants.

Dining points for everyone in the room are all pooled together. One person could technically use them all. Disney doesn't care which person on the dining plan using the dining plan points (as long as everyone using points is on the dining plan).
