I have a question about the deleux vs regular dinning plan.

DD (7) and I have used the regular dinning plan in th e past and have loved it. For our upcoming trip in May I am thinking of bringing my cousin who lives with us. He is 12 and is quite a growing boy. He is always hungry.

I am wondering is the deleux plan might be a better option for us. We will be staying at AKL so will have both counter and table service right at our fingertips.

For those of you who have traveled with teenage boys is the regular dp enough food? I am thinking that it might be worth the extra cost to make sure I can feed him enough and have the snack credits on hand.

I guess you will have to weigh the pros and cons. If you decide on the DDp instead of the dp, then you all will be on it and may waste much food. I understand there is a lot of it on there. Maybe it would be a better idea just to buy him oop for extra snacks or an extra burger..just running the cost thru my head...good luck and happy eating:)

I have spent so much time recently agonizing over the dining plans it is ridiculous.

Based on what I have learned from my own research my suggestion to you is to only purchase the Deluxe Dining Plan *if* you think everyone in your party needs to eat three full meals plus the snacks every day.

If you are considering it only for your cousin and the other members of your party are happy with the regular dining plan, then it would be more cost effective to just purchase additional food for your cousin on a as needed basis than to purchase the Deluxe Dining Plan for everyone.

Just my .02 cents.

We had the DxDP on our last trip and will be on it in June. Last year, it was Me, DBF, DS 15 (now 16), DD 14 (she actually eats a lot but is just pickier). We ate our money worth's. That being said, we did no counter service and lots of peopole don't like to take the time for TS. Also, I think if you don't do TS 2 meals a day you won't get the value out of the DxDP. My kids like to eat and are willing to try new things. Anyway, no one was hungry. We actually ended up using about 2/3 of the total snack credits on snacks that we brought home as we did not use so many snack credits due to the 3 big meals a day.

I want it for a few reasons. One is a 17 y/o who is never filled up. We are going in September, which I know is going to be quite warm. I won't mind sitting in the A/C for extended amounts of time. I am planning a breakfast buffet in the morning, a quick serve for lunch and a table serve at dinner.

I was thinking the same thing in terms of a breakfast buffet, cs on the run for lunch and then a nice ts for dinner.

My dd does not eat much at breakfast but my cousin does! It seems like he is never filled.

Since we will be staying at AKL we can have the buffet at Boma for a few mornings that we are not trying out other resturants.

My DCs (dear cousin) mom said she would make up the price difference for dd and I from the dp to ddp. He can get really cranky if he gets too hungry.

I have a hungry teen myself so I understand. We have used both DXDDp and DDP and we like both. Just the next time we do deluxe we will plan dinners at signature restaurants. WHen we did CS on our dxddp trip we would share cs because we weren't really hungry for a whole meal for one. HTH
