next year my dd will be 16 so instead of the crazy birthday party we told her she can take 3 friends with her for a week vacation at dw (boy I only had a lame pool party :rotfl2: ) . Now, we will have ap cards so we can get a dde card.

question....

do you think it would be smarter to get the ddp instead of dde card?

the dde card really doesn't cover all cs in the parks and this might run up into more money than the ddp. The ddp also covers one snack per day so this would be more added money to the pot too. whats your thoughts.

oh btw...we would probably eat one cs and one ts everyday.

Just from reading this I think you would prefer the dining plan. More fun for the young ladies to order whatever they want. And you sound like you want counter service, which DDE most likely wouldn't help you with.

As an AP holder you can book an AP room/dining package (no tickets) if there is availability for your travel dates, and tickets can be purchased separately.

However, if you have plans to go back to WDW within the year and eat a lot of table service, you may want to look into the DDE.

thanks for your thoughts:thumbsup2

This has always been a tough question for a lot of people.

It sounds like their will be 6 of you, all adults. $38 per person per day = $228 per day plus you need to add 15 to 20 percent for tip at the TS locations.

Figure each snack to be on average $3. You will receive 6 snacks per day at $3 = $18 per day.

On average a CS meal can cost approximately $10 per person (dessert & drink included). With 6 people that would be $60 per counter service meal.

Depending how you use your TS credit that will really help decide whether to use the DDP or DDE. Will you use it for breakfast (cheapest meal of the day), lunch or dinner (most expensive meal of the day). If you think you will use your TS credits for breakfast mostly, I'd go with the DDE. If you like dinners then the DDP maybe for you. Really look at which restaurants and when you will be dining at first before making your decision on the DDE versus the DDP. I think a lot of folks on the boards will tell you to make your ADRs first and then decide which way to go.

Also, when doing the math don't forget to add $65 for the cost of the DDE card. And remember DDE cardholders get free valet parking at the resort where they are dining. I've also been able to use it at the resort I've been staying at; however, according to the rules I don't think you are supposed to do it. I just got away with it and it saved me $50 for valet parking.

A lot to consider. Good luck!
