My family of 5 will be vacationing next year. We will have the DDP. At two of our TS meals, my DMa & DPa will be joining us. They live in Fl (within driving distance). I have the ADRs made already.

So, how does this work with the "party of 6+ = automatic 18% tip"? My family's meals will be on DDP (although add some adult beverages for me), but my parents meals will be OOP. So how does the 18% get added in?

I think you will get 2 checks, and each check will have the 18% gratuity added for its portion of the total. So still 18% on the total amount spent between both groups.

We were just there and had this very situation.Party of 7 split on 2 dining plans. We told the waitress what we were doing...ie. oop for 4 of us and DDP for 2 or regular dining plan for 4 and DDP for 2. The waiter/ress brought 2 separate checks. It was never a problem. The tip was included on each bill so we didn't have to split that out. It was fine. Never had a problem.
Have fun!!

All tipping discussion is limited to the Disney Dining Tipping Info thread, which is a sticky at the top of this forum (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2300858)

The first post of the thread explains why there is just one thread, has thread guidelines and even a tipping FAQ.

The OP has their answer, so we're closing this thread and directing all further tipping discussion to the sticky.
