DDP should be an option

Just a small rant here.

I am an AP Holder and GREAT... you can add the DDP if you are a DVC member OR if you are Renting DVC points. I have looked at DVC Membership... just can not justify buying into it... seems like it's more expensive and very confusing to me.

This Year... Finally they came up with a "Package" they you could add the DDP.. to a room only ressie. You did not have to buy a one day pass to add the DDP. BUT it is a temporary thing. Does not help me with my travel dates.

Tried to rent points at OKW Studio... but alas they are booked on my dates.

Just seems like the AP's are not what they should be. I know they are looking to make some changes. If I had a Disney wish... AP's would be good in all WD Parks and be able to add a dining plan to a room only. AT ANY TIME !!!

Is it too much to ask for a little Pixie Dust here ????

Have you considered getting DDE? It's worked out to be a much better fit for my family's dining habits.

We have that.. I was just wanting to try a lot of the Disney Resturants and when your meals will be 100.00+ dollars.. the DDE is no help.

That leaves us having 1 meal MAYBE 2 within Disney.. the rest Offsite Again

perhaps my math is different than yours, but I find DDE a tremendous advantage, and the savings are very comparable to what I'd get on DDP.

Agreed. The 20% savings adds up quickly and makes a dramatic difference in the cost of food. You can even use it in some counter service locations such as the food court at POP.

We use DDP and DDE card together and that works perfectly for our family. However, next trip we will just be using DDE card w/o DDP (making a last mintue trip and we are going to "wing it", sort of an experiment for us).

Ok. Here is an secario

Chef MIckey's for Dinner Cost for us will be 105.00 - 20%(DDE) = 84.00 + 18% gratuity they have added on now.. most of the time they earn that but now I do not have that option of deciding. So I save 2 %. :confused3

But for the sake of arguing... lets leave it at $84.00 We never spend 84.00 on a meal excpet at Disney. DDP is 124.00 a day for all 4 of us. 40.00 difference on just one meal. Add in a few snacks, ( kids always want a soda, or a water, or some kind of Ice Cream )and one more counter service meal... we beat the $$ on that Day.

The cheapest meal we were looking at getting was Trails End and that would be $68.00 for all four of us.

When we did the math.. at the places we wanted to go for Table service.. DDP came out the same and in most cases cheaper than the DDE.

If we ate counter service all the time then yes the DDE would be cheaper.

Like my post title says... For Ap's it should be an option.. not just if you are the DVC'ers

I have a list of ADR's I'll have to cancel.. Eating only at Chef Mickey's one time and eating off site for all other meals.. unless they decide to make the DDP an option before my trip.

Because you would have tipped 0% without the DDE?

That aside: An Annual Pass is "what it should be" - up to 366 consecutive days' admission to the four Walt Disney World theme parks. EVERYTHING else is just a bonus.

Really? 20 percent off your meal is no help?

And it's only a 2% discount with the auto tip if you intended to tip nothing.

I have done it both ways....every single time I have spent less with my DDE card. I have done the DDP but only for the sake of convenience..two families traveling together, they could each pay for their DDP, rather than sit there at each meal, trying to figure out who's share was what.

The AP is exactly that..an annual pass to WDW. I never suggest anyone buy it for any other reason..just to get into the parks. Of course there are some good perks from having one, but we shouldn't be looking for it to be a 'discount card'. You can already buy the DDE card, you get room discounts, you discounts for shopping, tours etc. Just because Disney does not extend the DDP to AP holders is no biggie. Personally, I don't think the DDP is all that great a deal anymore anyway. I'm going in Sept, have my room booked now. If free dining comes out, then fine, I'll use the DDP, but I'm not paying for it. It just doesn't work for us anymore.

This logic amazes me! Do you not typically tip? You are still saving 20% on your meal. The 18% is added for tip and the total of the bill will still be a savings of 20%. Saying that you save only 2% is saying that you do not tip servers and if you dont want to tip servers then you might as well just eat at CS places anyway.

We are AP holders and DVC members. We spend about 30 days per year in the parks with our APs. That is way past the "break even" point so we are already getting a fabulous deal. Why would Disney feel the need to gaurantee the use of the DDP in addition to the reduced ticket cost? The fact that the DDP is available for some AP room only dates is already a bonus. Like the above poster said, the AP is simply a ticket that allows 366 days of park admittance, anything else is just gravy.

Did not get it for a "Discount Card" It came out a cheaper option than buying 2 years of passes with hopper.

It did not even come into much consideration with the DDP till Disney decided to offer it to Ap's as "perk" I got excited till I saw the Disney "Catch"... Discounts on Rooms was not a factor either.

One Cm said DDP might be offered during my time in June.. so I had to make ADR's in case. I also tried to get DVC points for the room conf. that my family can work with.. that being a OKW studio... but all are booked through DVC point rental.

Going when Disney offers "Free Dining" will never be an option for us. And maybe some people can pay 100.00 +( some places meals would be nearly $200.00) on a meal every day. Our Budget is usually 100 or less for the entire day.

So Disney's "TEASE" with allowing the DDP to AP's for a short Limited time only
just made me sad. It does not have to come with a room discount.. Just wish they would have made it a "perk" permanently.

WE ALways Tip... 15-20%. It is based on how well we are served. To Insure Prompt Service ( TIPS)
Sometimes they fall short.. so they would get 10%... unless it is really bad. Then we get a Manager.

Why are you only adding a tip onto the cost of the DDE and not the DDP? The DDP no longer includes the tip so you need to add that on also.

Where did you find the dates for that the DDP plan is availible to add on? We have booked through a TA for December and she phoned Disney and they said just phone back in Oct. to get the room discount. It is quoted with the DDP. Now I'm paniced:eek: .

Why can't you get the AP Dine pkg. for June. I have it booked for Sept. The promotion was for AP rate rooms and added dining pkg. but they are allowing AP holders to book without discounted room the dining pkg. on there reservations. If discount comes out simply call and reduce rate.

I was told that I could add the DDP to my reservation that is in Sept-Oct. Who is saying it is a limited time offer?

The dates were for the AP rates released for this spring
Check-in dates: 3/30/08-5/21/08. Use code FJC on weekdays, FJG on weekends. Your stay will be priced on a day-by-day basis, so rates may be higher on weekends.

Now Disney is offering dining if you are an AP holder without the 1 day tix. This is bookable anytime and can be changed if AP rate comes out later.

Walt Disney World Annual Passholder Package with Dining - As of late February 2008, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can purchase a special vacation package that includes either the standard Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan. The Dining Plans are not discounted with this package. The room rate on the Annual Passholder Package is not always discounted, but during certain times of year, a discount may be offered. This package does not include admission tickets, since obviously Annual Passholders don't need that component of a vacation package.

I hope this helpes.

The CM said it was not available for me. So I could not book a room only( either with or with out a room discount) and add the DDP. One said I could One CM said I could not.So I have a room only booked... and she said that MAYBE I could add the Dining plan if it was offered.

Call back and book it with the one that says that you can. It took the CM a while to find the code to allow this. My documents from Disney says ADS ( I am assuming this is the code) AP Dine Pkg. Call back !!!!!:thumbsup2 and make sure they understand you are not wanting the discounted room just an AP Dine Pkg.
