Ok, we will be at Disneyworld for 8 days. But 2 of those are half days. Does the amount of days I purchase DDP for *HAVE* to match the amount of days I am staying? What if I want to have DDP for only 3 days of my stay? Can I do that or no?

It says I can add on up to 5 days before I get there. So that means if I get there and say "Dang I should have got the dining plan", there is nothing I can do about it right?

Thanks in advance.

The # of days on the dining plan must match the # of resort nights. So if you are going to be there for 8 days, 7 NIGHTS, then your dining plan will cover 7 days. If you believe you would really only use 5 of the dining plan days, then you could book only 5 nights on the package and book the night before and the night after as room only - if still available at this late date or you can splurge with your TS meals and eat at signature restaurants for 2 of the nights. Instead of just table service for dinner, you could also do two table service breakfasts. There is a lot of options with the dining plan. Just think of all the extra snacks you will have for the ride home. :)

It is probably difficult to change much at this late date.

Number of days of DDP has to match the number of nights of your package. The only way to get around it is to have 2 separate reservations. First 3 nights package w/DDP & tickets for X days (however many days you want to be in the parks total--up to 10 days). Second, a room only reservation for the remaining 5 nights (no DDP, and you'll continue to use the remaining days on your park tickets from your package). If you just wanted to try out the DDP for a couple of days, this would be the way to go. You probably wouldn't have to change rooms--you'd just be issued new room keys for the second half of your trip.

I doubt there's any way to add the DDP once you arrive, since it has to be purchased as part of a package, including room and tickets, and I don't believe the resort check-in desks can book packages.

Through WDTC guests can add the dining plan 72 hours/3 days before arrival. The front desk is not suppose to.

The number of days varies depending on who you ask. My guess is that the criticial timing involved is when the reservation is transferred from central control to control at the hotel itself, and that generally occurs a day or two or three before check-in. After that transfer, you cannot add the Dining Plan.
