Going in the fall, 2 families of 4, our first time on the regular dining plan! I will make ADRs for 8 (for the entire group). My question is: I know that the automatic gratuity will apply, but will the restaurants split it up since each family will have seperate dining plans? Or will we just have to do the math?

you may have to call Disney directly rather than doing it online to make sure that they understand that there are 2 separate families paying. otherwise you would have to make ADRs at the same time for both families which doesn't always work.

You will get two seperate checks. One for your family, one for the other family. At the restaurant the server will ask, and you say that the families have seperate dining plans.

You can make reservations for the whole group, it doesn't matter that it is 2 families.
