I am considering a Deluxe Dinning Plan for our trip in Jan.4 nights 4 days.We generally eat at places like the California Grill(our favorite )and will be trying Narcossi as well on this trip. It's just myself and my wife.We generally eat a light breakfast in our studio ,cereal and fruit.lunch is usually back at the studo as well-. My question and confusion is this, with a DDP comes 3 meals a day plus snacks and the like .If thats the case does that mean a signature rest. only cost 1 days worth of meals ?

You get 3 meal credits per day on the Deluxe, that can be used for TS or CS. So you would still use 2 of your 3 credits to eat at a signature.

So technically you could eat at a signature restaurant every night you're there on the plan ?:cool1:

Yes, and have a TS credit remaining each day for another meal (although you don't have to use 3 per day, you can use more or less in any given day).

carol,
Thank you, still not sure if it makes sense for us,but it does clarify what i thought.Sorry you're not going this year ,we took 09' off and now are excited about going back.

If you are staying 4 nights you will be allotted 6 dining credits per night (3 for you, 3 for DW) for a total of 24 dining credits (6 x 4 = 24). You have options:

1. You can eat (3) 1credit/TS meals/pp per day at those restaurants that use 1 TS per meal. Total credits used for the day - 6.

2. You can use (1) 1credit/TS to eat breakfast or lunch and then use (1) 2credit/signature to eat at a signature restaurant each day. Total credits used for the day - 6.

Of course there are many variations that you can do to fit your needs: (3) 1credit/TS one day and (1) 1credit/TS + (1) 2credit/signature on another day.

The last time that DW and I went on the Deluxe plan we chose example #2. We chose the 1credit/TS meal usually for lunch and then had a late dinner at one of the signature restaurants each night.

I will say that you have to be a real eater to choose example #1. It is a lot of food. It also will take a lot of work to plan other activities around your ADRs.

One of our first visits as a married couple was way back in 1988. We were on the Grand Plan which is pretty much the same as the Deluxe Dining Plan in regards to food. At that time they did not differentiate between 1/TS and 2/TS. Everything was 1 credit. So we ate 3 meals per day. We were stuffed! We would wake up in the mornings with what I describe as a food hangover. But being young and wanting to get our money's worth we got up, went to breakfast and started eating again. It was a LOT of food.

Have fun!:cheer2:

Look at the menu's for the places you reserve (or plan to). The way it's sounding to me, you'd have trouble getting a good value out of the Dlx plan with at least 2 signature meals (which do cost 2 credits each). Lets assume you ate 3 signature meals and 3 meals at Le Cellier (usual higher cost 1 TS option for comparison).

Costs before Tax for highest cost items

Narcoossee's $92
Artist Point $69
CA grill $75 (Didn't count sushi or cheese board).
Le Cellier lunch $52

Max cost of those items for 2 $576 before tax. Cost of Dlx plan for 3 nights/2 people $432. So your max savings in this situation would be around $180 assuming you ate the more expensive options and only at the most expensive places and nothing happened to cause you to miss a meal. To me that amount of possible max savings is not enough to justify the cost of the plan. However, it might be for you depending on the choices you normally make, how early you're arriving and how late you're departing. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

We just used the DxDP and ate at signature dinners and character breakfasts and usually skipped lunch or just used a snack

What gets u is the tips and drinks... 5 nights with 3 adults (2 kids under 3) and the tips+cocktails were about $700!!! (now yes we could have not had a few but we were on vaca!!!)

So although you do save money on the meals, when u eat at the signatures the cost is higher therefore driving up the OOP tip cost.

The DDP was so much better when the tips were included!!
