DDP Question Splitting Resorts

I am planning on spending 2 nights at one resort and switching over to another resort for the other 5 nights. I am planning on doing the dining plan. How does this work if im splitting resorts. Can I add 2 nights onto the DDP I will get for my 5 night stay? Thanks

As far as I know you wouldn't be able to do that. Since you basically have 2 separate reservations right now, both would need to be made packages with tickets bought as part of the package for each (unless you are a passholder or DVC member). You can only book the DDP for the number of nights on the reservation that it is attached to.

That is correct - it is 2 reservations. If you want the DDP on both and you don't fall in those exceptions above, you would have to buy at least a one day ticket with each reservation (2 day ticket for free dining).

Further clarification, please.

If I do a dining package during a split stay, does that mean that the dining credits at the first hotel end with that stay; or would they carry over for the entire disney stay. If you have to finish up with each stay that would definately entail more planning and more room for error.

The dining credits for the first stay expire at midnight on check out day. Paying for the DDP for a split stay is usually a REALLY big money loser because you have to buy full price 1 day tickets for each stay. The tickets get cheaper each day you add so for a 7 day ticket ($263) it would be much much cheaper than buying a 2 day ticket plus a 5 day ticket ($425). That is per person!!! If you really want to do a split stay then 1 adult should buy an Annual Pass ($531). With an AP stay you can get a ticketless DDP and then just buy each person the ticket they need either at check in for the first stay or at a park.

Thanks I had not even thought about the park tickets, that makes perfect sense. We will skip the dining plan and buy our park tickets seperately.
