I was just looking at the best tips on the disboards and one included not using kids table service credit and paying for the kids meals and saving them. This is the first time that we will use the DDP, do they not distinguish between kids and adults for the credits?
TIA.

Yes, table service credits are separated by adult and child. That was done several years ago.

Perhaps they are talking about children 10 and over who are considered adults on the dining plan.

When DD11 was under 10 if we ate ate at a 2TS we would save them for later. So much depends on how much the meals cost. For example, a kid's meal with everything is $22 at Tutto Italia. That's one TS. A kid's meal at California Grill could be $24, for 2 TS, or $12/credit. That's why when we did a 2 TS, we would be more likely to pay that one OOP. But only if we thought we would use it later.

Maybe the tip was for using CS credits? But then they don't distinguish between adults and kids on those (unless it has recently changed).

If you have kids over 9 who want to order a kid's meal at a TS (completely allowed, BTW) then I would definitely pay OOP for that and save the adult credit for another restaurant (that's a good way to get extra credits for a 2 TS);)

We've used DDP a lot of times so if you have any questions, feel free to PM them to me. I think I can help (and I won't judge either) and once again :welcome: to my fridge swap!

When the plan first started that's how it worked. On our first trip we had 1 "child" and 1 10 year old who ate like a child. We used our credits all sorts of creative ways. For example, we payed OOP for him at 3 places and used the 3 credits to upgrade to a California Grill dinner.

Or we'd order 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 deserts and split them between the 2 adults and the 10 year old.

To give you a sense, my son (the child) and I went to Beaches and Cream. We ordered 1 drink (ice tea perhaps for me?) 1 appetizer (ceasar salad that was large enough to be a meal), 1 entree (double cheeseburger with tons of fries!) and 1 "dessert" (root beer float). They cut the cheeseburger for us and plated it as 2 meals (the equivalent of a whole cheeseburger, lots of salad, and lots of fries) and we used just one credit.

The one thing we did do was tip extra, so even though tip was included (I think this is a change too) we'd tip as though we ordered 4 meals, even if we only used 3 credits.

We asked several times whether what we were doing was "above board" and were reassured that Disney had designed it that way.

Sadly, that doesn't work any more, which is why we don't do the DDP any longer.

I'd like to know this too! Are they still grouping CS together, or do they now distinguish between kids and adults?

They are grouped together...

However, your card will read a specific number of adults and children. When your card is scanned, the CM will be able to verify this. As such, if you have 2A and 2C (random choices), then you will only be able to get 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals at any one time. You would not be allowed to get 3 adult meals.
