DDP Question about upgrade- HELP!

Quick question,
I have currently purchased 6 days/ 5 nights at CSR with dining included.
After thumbing through the endless pages of posts, I have picked where I want to eat. The only problem is that I am picking a lot of table service meals... so... I was thinking about upgrading to the Deluxe Dining Plan (the one which lets you choose TS or CS) and 2 snacks each day.

One question:
Can I still do the free dining- but pay the difference in the package? Has anyone done this before or have advice? Okay that was two questions...

yes you can upgrade, and quite a few people took advantage of free dining that way to get the Deluxe at reduced cost.

...you will be charged the difference between DxDDP and basic DDP.

We did this last year during the free dining. I think it is a difference of around $ 30 a day. Give or take 5 dollars.

well, i upgraded two dasy ago to the deluxe plan. I figure it would save me more money. On the regular dining plan I felt more constricted... my family loves ot eat!
This way if I have extra meals left over- I can use them on the last day (we leave at 5:45 at night for our plane)...
One more question though, I bought a planner for disney which describes all the restaurants (and twhich ones are kid friendly)... I want to book a reservation at La Celleir, which the book describes as adult dining... do you think if I make it an early dining reservation for dinner- I could bring the kids??? Or should I contemplate... gulp... a sitter!

You'll be fine bringing kids to Le Cellier. There are only a handful of restaurants on Disney preoperty that aren't suitable for children, and none of them are on the dining plan. Le Cellier is an adult dinner in the sense that it has a nice ambiance and there's no entertainment to keep the kids amused, but it isn't some place where children are out of place.
