DDP price increase

I love the dining plan but with the price increase to $52 i really don't see how i will save any money. I would have to eat my TS at Chef Mickey's ($36 to $59) for dinner each night which i don't want to do. We have ADR's for Mama Melrose and Tony's Town Square this trip and i would have to order the steak at each to even have a chance to break even. The DDP may have come to an end for me. What do others think?

That is correct. For an adult to realize any savings, they would have to order steak and/or a character meal every night, plus get dessert with every meal.
Doing much less, and it's hard to even break even.

It amazes me how many people claim they do want steak or character meals every night.

For a lot of us on this board, this year with the $52 cost it was the breaking point. For the past times I have gone, I have always used the DDP as it was a good value at the time but if you crunch the numbers you will most likely see that you might be either losing money by getting the dining plan or only earning a few bucks. This year I have decided to get the TIW card for my visits that I have planned. I was tired of getting the most expensive meal so I could justify the cost, and most of the time at home my wife and I will split a meal and get a few salads or appetizers because we normally don't eat that much. No the dining plan, each person had to get their own meal and it felt like too much food being served to us.

i've also noted that for a number of persons on the boards, the 2012 price was the breaking point (mine was 2008 so I've been off the plan for awhile), at least for those whose main interest in using the plan was in getting more than minimal savings.
