I did a search and could only find posts from 2006 and 2007. Because the DDP has changed and no longer includes the tip and appetizer, the discussion woud be different.

Which is the better value for 2 adults women(who don't eat alot),2 teenage girls, and a 7 yo finicky boy?

Are you going to be doing more TS or CS meals? Are you going to be doing Signature Dining? Do the adults drink wine with dinner? Saying one is better then the other is tough without knowing your plans and habits. Personally we use both.

I've taken the time to drill down and make a list of what we would order at a TS if we were paying OOP vs the "over-ordering" that you must do on the DDP.

Every time I figure the numbers, DDE comes out WAY ahead. Probably about $200 savings. Really, if you are DDP - you can order whatever you want and not worry about the price. But, I normally would not get dessert or nessecarily order the most expensive thing on the menu.

Plus DDE gives you the discount on alcohol too.

We come out ahead with DDE, and barely break even with DDP.

We vote DDE!!

Thanks y'all.
We have 1 counter service and 1 table service meal scheduled each day. On one night, we have the Hoop Dee Doo scheduled but since I couldn't get level 1 with the DDP, I was planning to pay for it OOP.
My friend is coming and bringing her 7 year old son. I'll have my 14 year old and she's bringing a friend. I can see my friend and I having a cocktail in the evening.
I remembered that because I have an AP, I can get the DDE card.

We prefer the DDE card, better deal for us. FYI: for your group, if you have the card, the bill has to be on one check for the discount. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for your help.
I'mgoing to order the DDE card tomorrow.

As tiggr33 indicated, it's not an either/or choice. You can use both DDP and DDE, and you can use them together.

A couple of quirks to using both:
  • Obviously, if you use DDP, everyone in the same room will have to get DDP.
  • You will only need ONE DDE card for your entire group. You can use the DDE card for up to TEN people at one meal.
  • The DDE card will trigger an automatic 18% gratuity charge, regardless of the size of the group. However, you would face that anyway if your party had six or more people for a particular meal.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Thank-you.
The tip is not a big deal because the 18% is less than I usually tip unless the service is lousy and we've never had anything but good service at WDW restaurants.

Disney Dining Experience. It's a card that AP members and Florida residents can purchase that gives you 20% off meals.

I just wanted to clarify the above. DDE is primarily for TS locations. It's use is very limited at CS locations.

I am leaving in a few days and noticing that..Our best bet is to have breakfast/lunch at the resort where they do take it..So far I see they accept it at Garden Grill and The Plaza which are nice lunch places..Nothing much else.

Flame Tree and Pizzafari in the AK take participate which is great because the BBQ beef at FT is my favorite CS meal in all of WDW.

Yes..I found another site that mentioned Animal Kingdom CS does accept it.(except the new Yak and Yeti.)

Also POFQ where we will be staying pre-cruise.
