Ohana is 1 credit pp on the DDP, which does not include appetizers.

Ohana is all you can eat, family style. Do we get the apps or do they skip that for us?

Can anyone please let me know.

Thanks.

'Ohana is a fixed price, fixed menu, all you can eat meal served family style. No matter what plan you are on, you will be served the entire menu.

I was going to say the same thing as the PP. You will get everything...unless you specifically ask "not" to get something.

That is why I love Ohana even more when we are on the regular dining plan. It's an excellent value.

Thank you. Yes, I thought it was a great value and surprised I thought of it myself so I had to check with the experts LOL
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Ohana is a "great value" in the sense that for a fixed price, it provides all-you-can-eat, including select alcohol, all for a fairly affordable price. In that sense, especially for a large eater, or someone who wants a beer with dinner, it's a great value, on or off the dining plan.
When on the DDP, in terms of pure dollars and cents, it's a slight value. If you get dinner at Ohana, with an average prices CS and average priced snack, you may save $2-4 per adult for a day.

In terms of pure dollar value, the best TS values are where there are $30+ entrees that you plan on ordering.

Thank you very much. Where are the restaurants for $30+ that are not signature? I saw Coral Reef and perhaps Boma (but that too is buffet).

To name a few (you can check out the menus at allears.net)
Teppan Edo, The Wave, Captain's Grill, Kouzzina, Chefs de France, Tutto Italia...

What alcohol is included at 'Ohana? That's news to me. Thought that was only at Hoop and at the luau (the dinner shows).

'Ohana does not include alcoholic beverages.

Spirit of Aloha does...but not 'Ohana.

Not many, which is why the DDP isn't a great value in 2012. But some examples:
Les Cellier Lunch -- NY Strip is $32
Chefs De France has a filet that is $35 and duck for $32
Tutto Italia has a dish taht is $36
The Wave has a $30 Tenderloin
Kona Cafe has a $29 tenderloin

These are the among the limited dishes that can still help people net a 15-20%+ savings with 2012 pricing.

Assuming a $6 dessert and $2.50 beverage... and tax.. $20 is the break-even price for an entree on the dining plan. So at over $30, the above items give significant savings.

I just want to make sure you understand this. If you are on the REGULAR DDP, it doesn't matter if you go to a 1 credit TS or a 2 credit TS, you will NOT get an appetizer with your meal unless you pay OOP for it.

A 2 credit TS is just a higher end, higher priced meal.

Not exactly correct. Whether 1 credit or 2 credits, regardless of whether you are on the ddp or dxdp, you get the same food at buffets and family style meals. They don't lock off the appetizer section at buffets if you are on the regular ddp. Thus, there are some 1 credit restaurants where you get an appetizer in the regular ddp.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified that to be NON-buffet, family style meals.

Ohana is my husbands FAVORITE place to eat! He LOVES it! you will not leave hungry, thats for sure. Enjoy !!!

There are a few exceptions, but most of the time you will NOT get an appetizer at an a la carte (not fixed price) restaurant covered by the regular DDP. If you want an appetizer you will pay OOP for it. This includes signature a la carte restaurants.

Exceptions are dining packages (Fantasmic or Candlelight Processional) and prix fixe menus at select restaurants: Le Cellier (lunch only), Captain's Grille, Chefs de France, Kona, and possibly Nine Dragons.
