DDP Mug Credit?

I know the mugs are usable at any resort and you can purchase them even if you're not staying at a resort, but I have seen a couple posts implying that they must be "purchased" from the resort you are staying at when on a dining plan.

So, is the mug "credit" redeemable at any resort? I was planning on not getting a mug until I wanted to use one, which might be at Contempo Cafe or Boardwalk Bakery...

I have a feeling no one has tried this before. With all the information now stored in MDE, one could assume what you want to do should be possible. I think I would ask at the front desk/concierge of YOUR resort when you check in. They may not have a clue either. If your comfortable with the possibility of not having a mug for a drink at CC or BB, you might want to try it and see what happens. I really do think this is uncharted territory, so you could be the first!!

I did it a few years back. They didn't have the color I wanted at my resort (CSR) so I waited until I went to the Boardwalk Bakery and redeemed it there. No issues at that time, I would imagine it has not changed.

Since the credit for the mug is redeemed from your dining plan I would figure it wouldn't matter the location.
