Hi!! I was able to book FD for my 11/26-12/4 trip :cool1: This will be the first time we are using DDP so I just have some basic questions. Is there somewhere I can look to see what the approximate "cost" of the credits are? I'm thinking we will still need to pay a couple meals OOP so trying to decide which ones are best to pay OOP. We plan on doing CRT and I know that would be 2 credits so is that one that is worth it to use my credits on or would you pay that OOP and save the credits? And just to make sure I'm correct... you get the 1 TS, 1 QS, 1 snack for each NIGHT that you're booked right? So I'd have 8? Another one we would probably do OOP would be Y&Y because you can get discounts with the Landry's card and I'd prefer appetizers there over entrees. Just trying to get the most out of the dining plan and am a little overwhelmed since we've never experienced it before! Thanks for the help!

I always look at all the menus and price it out based on what we would order. Also don't forget to add in tips, they are not included at most TS restaurants, and the refillable mugs.

These are rough estimates of the breakdown, but still a good guideline:

Snack $5
QS $18-20
TS $38-40

You can find menus (most are up to date) online. Glance over the prices of items you think your family may enjoy to give you a better idea of what your bill will be.

Look at allears.net . They have menus for all the restaurants with the costs. We usually pay OOP for a brft. like CP. Since you have to pay up front to book CRT(and we have done brft , the cheapest meal there) we have done that OOP since it was already paid 6 mo. before. Also you do get meals by the number of nights you are staying, but credits are good till midnight the day you check out, so you can utilize any extra meals or snacks you have if you are going into a park or hanging at the resort, and flying out later. We often have QS meals left, and have used it for an extra meal in a park that morning or have gotten sandwiches to take to the airport with us. And we usually have snack credits that we use to buy things to take home as gifts for family or for ourselves for the plane.

Thank you! I guess I just need to figure out how many TS we will do and pick the cheapest to pay OOP. Good point about CRT being paid 6 mos out, we will probably just keep that one as OOP since it would eat up 2 credits anyway. We will probably try and do a late bfast there as well and treat it more like "brunch" so we can last until an early dinner. So much calculating to figure out how to make the most of it!

The "cost" of the credits is irrelevant since you are getting free dining. Just pay OOP for your cheapest meals. Or for a 2-credit meal, divide the price in half.
Typically, CRT is a generally a poor use of credits -- I believe dinner is $73 per adult. So if your other meals are going to cost more than $36, you are better off saving the credits for other meals. But if most of your other meals are going to be cheaper, then use the credits for CRT.

You're right, that makes much more sense to do it that way. I guess I was trying to get an estimate on cost per credit to see which meals would be more than that cost but it does make much more sense to just pick the cheaper ones and pay OOP. Thanks!

And remember, you can split how you do the meals. If you are getting the steak at one meal, but your spouse is getting a salad... You can use a credit for the steak, and pay OOP for the salad, saving a credit to use at another meal.

Oh ok! I didn't realize you could do it that way. Good to know! These are all the little tips and tricks I need to get the hang of!
