DDP for DVC'ers

I thought I read somewhere that if you are a DVC member staying on points, you can get the dining plan for as many nights as you'd like (instead of like a regular package where you have to have it for all nights you're staying).

So can I do this?

Staying Wed. Oct. 26-Mon. Oct. 31 - can I get DDP for only 3 nights - Thurs., Fri. and Sat.? That would mean I could use DDP credits anytime Thursday through midnight on Sunday, right?

You would need to split your reservation into 2 reservation segments and asked to have them linked. You can usually stay in the same room and just have to go down to the desk and re-register for the second half and get a new key to the world card that has no DDp on it.

Yes. Member services will need to segment your reservation. This is a function of the new reservation upgrade from October 2010.

They can split the room night up under a single itinerary number. But my understanding is you will need to check-out and back-in with every change, though you remain in the same room, so you are never homeless.

Ok, didn't know where to go to ask this but I need some help. I am just a renter of points and have 4 reservations for Thanksgiving week (made them for family members). Anyway, I used 2 separate owners and everything went very smooth, but now I need to add the DDP and can't get a response from either!!! We are lamost at the point where I need to make my reservations for dining; since it is a Holiday I HAVE to get this done. Any suggestions? DVC still only speaks with members is that correct? I appreciate anyone's help - I have been fighing cancer and our family is so excited to have a vacation together.....I just want everything to be planned and smooth.

The owners that you rented from will have to contact DVC to add the dining plan. Since Oct 2010, the dining plan must be paid for at the time it's added to the room reservation. You don't have the have the dining plan on the reservation to make your ADRs. If you are planning on any dining events that require pre-payment, you would have to pay for those with a CC when the reservation is made if the dining plan is not on the reservation yet.
