Think I'm right in fact that where kids menu available our DS will need to choose from that. However have reservations that as a very active and hungry 9yo he will be left disappointed especially if us adults have such a huge choice! also he hates macc cheese & looks like staple diet on many of kids menus  can anyone suggest choices where either kids menu are decent size portions and variety or where there is no kids menu & therefore allowed to choose from same as adults 

There really isn't a good option out there as far as size of meals. We've found most to be fairly small. We've found that signature restaurants have better overall choices and buffets let you choose from whatever.
If it really is that big of a concern you might look at upgrading him to an adult. It would definitely cost more but if he is really going to need it then that is always an option.

There are only a few CS restaurants that do not have children's menus. All the TS that accept the dining plan have them.

If you are on free dining, you can register him as 10 and he will have adult credits. On free dining it would cost you only the difference between a child and adult park ticket.

Really is that true? We are on a free dining package so that fantastic advice. How do we do that upgrade? Is it a case of just asking when we check in ?

No you would need to upgrade him at least 72 hours in advance of arriving.
Sorry I am not sure how but I am sure if you call they can lead you through it.

Have a good trip!!

I'm going to take a guess and say you are from the UK. I don't know anything about how a guest from the UK can change the age of their child on their package. If you are working through a travel agent, have them ask. I realize guests from overseas don't really want to make an international call to find out if they can do this. We do have a number of UK posters, maybe they have some advice.

If I recall correctly from the previous years it is very hard to change your child's age when going through the UK travel agent.

I remember posts of people complaining that they couldn't change the age for the Disney portion as the flight and other documents wouldn't match.

I don't know if any one was able to contact Disney and get it changed.

We booked through Complete Orlando and have seperate flights to disney package. Booked disney 7 nights with park tickets and free DD so maybe I should contact them and ask if I can upgrade DS to adult as I dont expect it makes a difference to our room booking and as pointed out an adult 7 day park pass is not much more than a childs :confused3
