In March we will be staying at POP and be on the DDP. There will be 4 adults and a 2 year old. I know the 2 year old does not have to be on the DDP, but does he have to eat off of our plates or can we order him his own food? I mean he will be close to 3 and he eats his own meal already when we go to places now. So I am sure 7 months from now he will be eating plenty more. Can we purchase the DDP for him or what are our options for him? I just would like to know so that we can get it taken care of before we get there and things. Any suggestions?

It is not possible to purchase the dining plan for anyone under age 3.
One of the reasons for this is that the dining plan is part of a package that requires a ticket purchase and under 3 does not require the purchase of a park ticket for admission.

You can order him his own food and pay OOP for it, but he can eat from your plate as well. If you don't like what is on the kids menu, sometimes for our kids we have ordered an appetizer for them.

So if we go to Chef Mickey's can we make him his own plate or have him eat off mine? I mean I don't mind him eating off of my plate but you know a 2 year old is going to want their own plate of food in front of them. :rotfl:

Pay OOP. Reason being- you COULD bump him to age 3 for the DDP, but you would be forced to pay for a ticket for him to enter the parks too- and that would be crazy to do.

Just pay out of pocket for a plate for him at places you want him to eat at. Otherwise at buffets he eats free, and he can always eat off your plate at every other place.

At buffets, grab 2 plates, 1 for you and 1 for him. Under 3 eats free at buffets, plate or no plate.

Well I understand where you are comming from I have a 2 year old that eats like,Well like a MAN:) :rotfl2:This will be our first trip to WDW. Well the problem was easy for me to solve,I had the same question at hand, the buffets he can eat for free, the counter services, me miss piggy:rotfl: will take the back seat and share, and the TS like Kona,LeCelliar and Coral Reef these places serve bread and Oh my is he a bread eater,so between he and his God Father's meal we will share, I am bringing his snacks, like organic cereal bars,
peanutbutter and honey crackers, cheese crackers, yougart bars and his Organic milk boxes, and I will also share snacks with him if he needs them,I dont think your son will go hungry, and if you dont think the sharing is going to work at the TS meals order him a side of mash taters, fries,or mac & Cheese, and if you dont think that will work just order him a kids meal at the non buffett places, enjoy your trip!:yay:

I never thought of that idea...Bringing him his own food..lol..He loves fruit snacks and fruit in general...Glad someone thought of that one for me..lol..I just didn't know if I could bring him in his own food like that...See he is going in October with his Mom and Dad and I was supposed to go well things changed and Aunt Holly(being me) couldn't go so I am going in March and am taking him so he is getting a double whammy of Disney..lol..But oh well he will enjoy it just as much as me! Thanks for everyone's ideas and opinion!

At a buffet he will eat for free. You can give him his own plate if youd like. We didn't have any problems doing this. At places like Liberty Tree Tavern where it is All You Can Eat, but not a buffet... (they deliver the food to you, rather than you making your own place).. the server brought our little ones there own plates. It worked out just fine.

We were on the dining plan in June had pretty much had all buffets for our TS meals. We had four children under three, and at all meals they were able to get their own plate and drink as well. We never had an extra charge for ordering them a drink, or anything. The only exceptions we had were when we went to Askershus Princess Meal in Epcot. There was cold buffet to start with and then everyone ordered their own entree. Our server was so nice, she let all of the under three year olds order their own kids meal and drink...and she DIDNT charge us!! We weren't expecting that at all!! It was a nice treat though!

Stick to buffets and your little one will be able to eat as much as he'd like! As so will you!

You can bring his own food, eat mostly at buffets (where he can have anything he wants off the buffet) or all you can eat meals (where he can also have all he wants of anything he wants), order large items to share with him, or bump him up to age 3 for the package (even though you'll have to buy him a ticket).

But the dining plan is not available for two year olds.
