I have done this before at the Resorts they stamp the reciept and then you have about an hour to claim the dessert.

Usually you order and get everything at the same time. At resort they usually only do the stamp thing for icecream. Most cs places have prepackaged desserts or you can get the kids fruit all which are portable.

allowed at resorts counter service, but only for ice cream desserts -- you can't go back later and pick up bakery item. Some places allow 30 minutes, some allow 60 (we were told 30 min at POFQ, but POP Century said 60 minutes). You have to present your receipt when you go back to get your ice cream and they either mark it with a sharpie, or rip it to show you've picked up your ice cream. I've read they also allow this at water park counter service that have ice cream dessert as an option.

At the park counter service, the dessert options are all pre-packaged items like a chocolate-cake in a cup, or a small bag of apple slices...so you have to take it with you when you get your meal. If you think you won't eat it right then, choose the item that will "travel well" in your bag.

Hopefully, you can tell when you are in line whether or not you will be famished or whatever to decide about a dessert right then and there.

If not, I get a dessert anyway and give it away after the meal to someone nearby.

You may be able to get the ice cream stamp at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. I thought we did this, but can't remember for sure.

You do have to order your dessert at the time you're paying. If you will be wanting something frozen (popsicle, ice cream, etc) then you just tell the cashier what you'll be getting and it'll be written on your receipt and the cashier will stamp your receipt stating that you'll be picking it up later. You need to pick it up generally within I think 90 minutes of the time on the receipt though I can't recall ever having the time checked when I show the receipt later.

I've personally done this only at resorts and at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot but I believe it can be done at any CS location where they sell frozen desserts.

You can not skip ordering dessert and then go later and show that you didn't order a dessert and get something at that time. As I said, you have to tell the cashier what dessert you'll be getting when you ring up your order.

If you really don't want a dessert, you might as well just get yourself a bottled drink for later or else some kind of snack that's portable and non-perishable.
