DDP CS and kids

I was just looking at the menus on another site and did notice the lack of kids' options. We always like to eat at Col. Harbour House and the only options there are mac and cheese or corn dogs (I think). I don't understand why they don't offer a kids' chicken tender plate since it's one of the main things on the adult menu. We will most likely share our meals with the kids. However, I am worried about not using up the kids' cs credits. If they at least had pb&j at every place, we'd be okay since that is one of the few things they'll eat (at least right now). My dd will only eat chicken tenders, cheese pizza, pb&j or grilled cheese. My ds will sometimes eat those items but if nothing else we can fall back on fries and apple sauce (not very nutricious, I know). Has anyone had any luck requesting adult items for a child at cs places?

I completely agree with you.....the children's menus are very limited. As my children are getting older, it is getting harder and harder because they would rather have a hamburger or chicken strips, not chicken nuggets.

Last year, we used a couple of our adult credits for our children.

Unfortunately, the rule is as follows:

So, as such, while you might be able to secure exceptions from individual cast members for individual meals, you should count on being able to do this as a rule. If you're really concerned about this, I feel you should avoid the Dining Plan. I suspect if enough guests simply not purchase the Dining Plan because of the limited choices on the child menus, then Disney will get the message, and perhas address the issue or not (or not, I suppose, depending on whether they're concerned about a decrease in participation in the Dining Plan).

I read in one of the tour books that virtually every CS restaurants has an PBJ uncrustable in the back. Just ask. I don't know if that is true; I'll likely be finding out myself in August. My 9 yo is not going to eat much on many of the kids menus.

I've done the math, and as long as your child is eating one TS and one snack per day, assuming a TS cost of at least $7.50 before tax&tip, it's cheaper to buy the plan than not to, even if you throw away all child CS credits and buy your kids adult meals OOP.

Absolutely. The kids' price for every buffet and character meal that I can find runs from $10.99 and up, and the DDP includes tax and tip. Snack credits are worth up to $4, so you are definitely ahead. For the CS meals, the kids can definitely drink the beverage, and might like some of the choices (not every CS menu is the same). I'd use CS credits in Epcot -- their kids' CS menus look much better and more appealing than most of the other parks (look at Tangierine, Yakitori, Cantina, and Sunshine Seasons). Or go to a CS that doesn't offer a separate kids' menu, like Pizza Planet in MGM, and then the kids can legitimately order the same choices as adults.

True!

We were disappointed last April that columbia harbour house didn't offer fish for the kids. They also didn't have chicken strips OR nuggets for kids, just the infamous chilled chicken with cheese (cold grilled chicken cubes with cheese cubes). It sounds like they've changed yet again.
