Are you allowed to use your TIW card for alcoholic drinks, apps, etc when also using the DDP?

I thought you could but then I saw this about the TIW card:

Certain restrictions apply during holidays and special events, please check with the restaurant when you make your reservation. Blackout dates include major holidays: Mother's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day.

This discount cannot be used in combination with any other discount.

This discount cannot be combined with any other discount or package. This includes events such as Fantasmic Dinner Package, Epcot Food and Wine Festival Events, and Candlelight Dinner Packages.

You'd only be using the TIW to cover items that are not covered by the dining plan, so that is not combining discounts or packages.

And yes, you can use TIW on off-plan items in participating restaurants if you are not visiting on a blackout date. You will be billed for the off-plan items separately and the discount and mandatory 18% tip for TIW will be applied to this bill.

The only time we weren't allowed to was at San Angel Inn several years ago. It was the first time the free dining plan was offered. My D-I-L insisted on trying the San Angel Inn. Having eaten there before, there was no way I was going to waste a dining credit there on a meal I wouldn't eat, so told the waiter I would just have the con queso dip (forgot the real name--but the cheese dip with sausage in it) as my meal and that I'd be using my DDE card, rather than the DDP. He told me we couldn't use two discounts at the same table and the free dining was considered a discount. I asked for a manager, who told me the same thing. I could pay full price for anything I wanted and they'd give us two receipts, but the DDE could not be used, along with my son and D-I-L's free dining plan. I asked the manager, what about if they were on the DDP and I was not, would I still not be allowed to use the DDE for my meal and he said, "That's right, only one discount per table and their free dining would be the discount". What was funny was that the food was so bad that not even my son and D-I-L could eat their meal, so their two credits were wasted anyway. Of course, I didn't tell them 'I told you so'. lol Every where else that trip, we had no problem using both.

We do it often and it's never been a problem. We often travel with another party in a different room and sometimes they have the DDP and we don't so we do a combo of dining credits/discounts. Just tell your server prior to the meal who is on the DDP and who is not and that you have the discount for the "extras".
