Can someone give me an example of a 'children's appetizer' under the disney dining plan? If adults are not allowed one....what are the choices for the children?....especially since their options are so limited as well.

I'm somewhat confused. thanks!

Usually carrot sticks/celery sticks, small salad, bowl of soup. I think just to keep the kids occupied until the rest of dinner is ready.
DD doesn't like raw veggies, they often substituted extra fruit instead which she loved.

It usually stuff like carrot and celery sticks with ranch, applesauce cups, fruit cups, grapes, cheese cubes, small salads, cups of soup, etc. They are NOT you typical appetizer type things...in fact, there are more like a fruit or veggie serving to balance out the kid's meals.

Oh I see!...kind of like a crudites. Actually that is great....this is normally something we do anyway. Another question would be if it is for all the sit down restaurants?

All the sit-down restaurants have children's menus. The only ones that may not have appetizers on the child's menu are some of those that are not operated by Disney (I think at DTD). If you encounter a restaurant that does not have appetizers on the child's menu you would have to ask if they will allow the child to choose an appetizer from the regular menu.

Pretty much all of the TS locations in the parks and resorts offer something similar but like Nala said, there are a very select few (I also think they were in the DTD area) that don't offer anything specifically for kids. I'm not sure what they offer in those places because we didn't get a chance to try anything in DTD.

do keep in mind that the kid's appetizers are just that: kid's portions. The ones I've seen were just big enough for a small child.

They call them "appetizers" but really they are just the veggie or fruit component of a balanced meal for a child. So the carrot sticks/dip might be 3 little carrots and a tbsp. of dip.

It's not just the signatures. Several of the TS restaurants have choices for the kids or an all or nothing choice. Check the menus at allearsnet.com or at the tab above.

Was checking out some menus earlier and even The Plaza at MK offers two choices for the kids' app.

Assuming that the menus on AllEars are correct here are some of the options available for children’s appetizers besides raw veggies:

DTD
Captain Jack’s:Mixed Green Salad or Soup of the Day

In the past, we've gotten the puff pasty at Chefs des France and it's quite large. Both mom and dad were able to have a taste. It was delicious.

Also, we've shared the lobster bisque from Coral Reef with one of the kiddies and the cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier.

Just a few suggestions!!
