DDP - can you "overbuy?"

I know that you need to purchase the dining plan for the same number of nights that you stay onsite. Can you purchase an extra day? We are going to be staying at a DVC resort so we won't be purchasing a package deal. So I wonder if I could just ask for an extra day.

We are going for 4 nights next January. If we time our flights right, we will have 4 full days (we might arrive late the night before) and not leave until late afternoon on the 5th day. With DDP covering two meals a day, albeit with a snack, I figure we'll want another day's worth of meals. Also, we'll have our boys with us who will still be under 3 and will not be on DDP. We'll be sharing a lot of food with them.

What do you think? Even with the boys eating with us (they are good eaters now at age 2. who knows how much they'll eat at 3 ), do you think we'll have too much food? We enjoy food, but don't necessarily have huge stomachs.

Sorry, you can't buy an extra day. The credits are directly tied to the # of nights you are staying on property.

But I wonder if you can purchase an extra person to get the meals you want. For example, make one of your sons older than 3 as far as your DVC reservation is concerned. Since you don't have to purchase a ticket to get the dining plan with DVC, there is no down side. Now, all meals will expire on midnight of your check out day, but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

It's a lot of food. We found we had enough counters and snacks left for the whole last day at the end and even bought bottled water to take on the trip home with extra snacks left.
