Hi, my family and I are visiting for 17 nights over the Christmas and New Year period... We have been before but this time are thinking of using the DDP... Is this a good idea, my children are 11 and 8.

I could do with some suggestions for great eating, we love dining out and like nice restaurants.

Whens the best time to eat.... any other tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I can tell you from personal experience we love the DDP. we are a family of 6 people we are going for 8 days at Christmas. We do a Table Service meal daily , I think if you plan to do Table Service daily it would be worth it.
We are doing -Hoop Dee DOO,CRT breakfast, Coral Reef, Ohana (breakfast and dinner) , LTT, Crystal Palace , 1900 PF, Mama Melroses (Fantasmic Package) ,WCC. We have no deposit to put down for the ones like HoopDeeDoo, and CRT with the DDP.

I know that when we are there we know it will cost us 40.00 a day for 1 adult- for a snack a counter meal and table meal. you need to do the math really and look at menus. I like going out to eat when I an there and not say well do we have enough money for this. I can eat whatever I want for dinner.

Ifind it to be a savings for us.

If you plan to cook while there and do basiclly counter meals , I say don't do it.

You said you enjoy eatting out and having really good meals so I am thinking it would be a wise choice for you. if you like steak and fish i think you will find steaks are in the price range of 25+$ depends on where you go so you do the math;) . you older child would be considered a adult, you r younger child would get the kids menu.

We used it for Christmas a couple of years ago and LOVED it. We actually will not go to WDW without the dining plan again, it makes everything soo much easier for us and all of the food is great! For us it is always a good deal;)

Is it for this Christmas? This Christmas it still seems to be a good deal, however there is much talk that there may be drastic changes in the DDP in 2008. I would think if you are going this year, you should have already made your ADR's.

very true point made! If you don't have your ADRs made yet I would highly recommend you do it as soon as you fiugre out were you want to eat in the next few days. your TS times are going to get slimmer and slimmer pickings.

you can make them at the 180 day +10 mark which I am fairly sure has come and gone.

you may need to take times that are later dinners like 8pm or so which may not be to bad if you do a late afternoon snack. Keep in mind though the times of parades, shows etc you may want to see if you can eat really early or late.
wehn you call disney dining ask them there thoughts on if you have enough time to get from point A to point B. They are usually friendly and helpful with that. I had ADRs at Ohana for 5:45 and wanted to see the firework still at MK. Well I had heard there were times it took WAY LONGER then exspected. she assured me my time was fine to eat and still get fire works. they can check times for park hours, parades, shows when you make your ADRs she she would know if there was enough time.

I can not stress enough that you really need to make your calls for them though!
