Has anyone used the DDP and been a vegetarian? Did you feel that there were enough places with Veggie choices?

Before we started to become vegetarians we went using the Deluxe Dining Plan (old version). I just cannot remember if there were many choices on the menu

Any suggestions?

I have a good friend on another board who considered using the DDP as a vegetarian. Since she didn't do many buffets, it didn't work for her. The cost of the vegetarian entrees (on average) is pretty low, so she didn't break even with the plan.

I'm a vegetarian and have used the DDP twice. I've never had a problem finding a vegetarian meal in any Disney restaurant--there's always at least one entree on the menu for vegetarians. Most of my meals have been great, a few just okay, but this is true of any meals, veggie or not.

Money-wise, both of my DDP trips have been on free dining, so the cost wasn't an issue for me. But if I had been paying for the DDP, I'm not so sure I would have been willing to buy it because, as Tricia pointed out, vegetarian entrees are always the cheapest things on the menu. Of course, at buffets it doesn't make any difference, and I travel with my dh and 2 kids, who are not vegetarians, so as a group, we likely would still have saved money with the DDP. But the decision whether to use it or not would have been more difficult.

I'm a vegetarian and did the DDP (free dining) twice. I never had a problem getting veggie entrees. I did look at menus ahead of time and chose TS restaurants wisely though. But pretty much every TS restaurant has a vegetarian entree or will make one for you. (According to one recent review I saw on the dining board, though, Yak and Yeti was an exception--they apparently had nothing veggie on the menu and couldn't make a special entree :confused3.)

Boma and California Grill are really great in terms of vegetarian options. I also have enjoyed Spoodles, Ohana (they'll make you a tofu lo mein dish instead of the meat on skewers), Le Cellier, and Flying Fish a lot.

As far as the price, though, I would do some calculating since the DDP now has changed to be much less money saving in general. I did a few calculations when WDW announced the changes and it didn't seem to me like a good deal at all given that vegetarian entrees tend to be significantly cheaper than meat/fish.

my niece joined us in WDW last year for free dining and she was more than pleased w/the vegetarian selections (but she does eat some seafood)... we ate at Coral Reef, San Angel, Mama Melrose, Raglan Road and a bunch of CSs... she never went hungry!!!
