If you've done a split resort stay with DDP, how have you done it? For example, on a 7 night stay, with 4 nights at resort 1 and 3 nights at resort 2, would you:

-book 2 packages, the first with 4 nights at resort 1 with 7-day park tix and DDP and the second with 3 nights at resort 2 with 1-day park tix and DDP

OR

-book 1 package, 4 nights at resort 1 with 8-day park tix and DDP, then book room only for the last three nights and pay for food OOP

Can you tell I'm overthinking this one? :scared:

I would book deluxe for the first part which will gain you one night food for your 2nd resort and then OOP for what remains

I guess I didn't understand how many days you are doing, but for my example out of a 7 day trip you do 4 days deluxe dining which should give you enough food for 5 days, then pay OOP for the last 3 days(which really will be just paying for 2 days food. )
When you buy your park tickets get enough days 7 to cover whole trip

I'm doing pretty much the same thing but I'm a little confused. I'm staying 4 nights at WL and then transferring to BC for 3 nights. I just booked hotel, not tickets, do I have to also book tickets to get free dining (if it's offered)? How does that work with a split stay? :thanks:

I think I understand what you are saying, but how does the deluxe plan give me more days than the regular plan? I thought it just offers more table service credits? :confused3

Yes, you need to purchase at least a one-day park ticket to get the dining plan, because it needs to be a package. So with the split stay, you have 2 reservations and you would have to purchase park tickets with each one to make each one a package. This is the part I was trying to figure out...how I would do the park tickets at the lowest cost. I think if I was staying 7 nights and I wanted 8 days of park tickets, I would book my first reservation for say, 4 nights with a 7-day park ticket, then my second reservation for 3 nights with a 1-day park ticket. Unfortunately either way you are paying twice for the 1-day ticket so it is an added expense.

Another option is to purchase an 8-day ticket with the first reservation (since the extra day is so cheap), then purchase a 1-day ticket with the second reservation. Save the 1-day ticket until your next trip and upgrade it to include the number of days you need. I think this works unless you will want a package again - then you'll have this 1-day ticket sitting around forever.

I may have to go back and crunch some more numbers...

It gives you 3 meals of any kind per night of stay, those credits are good until midnight the day you check out, so if you stay from the 1-4 at WL on the deluxe and 5-6 as resort only at AKL you will have until the 5th at midnight use up all your credits. Most folks can't use 3 credits and 2 snacks a day, so you could do it and leave enough so you have some credits for the 5th. then pay out of pocket the 6th which is your last day of stay and you will probably leave early or just do counter service meals.

this way you could have 2 table service from day 1-5 and a few extra credits for days you are extra hungry or if you want some 2 ts credit meals

Oh, I didn't realize it was 3 meals per day! I thought it was 2 TS per day! Now I see how this could work...

Unfortunately I haven't been lucky enough to get free dining in my experience. However, from reading about it last year I understand that you'd have to just transfer your reservations to the DDP package deal once free dining is announced.

You will call CRO, change your reservations from what they are and book the free dining. You'll pay rack rate for your room and pay for your tickets and the dining will be 'free'. Any discount you have currently on your room will be lost when you transfer to free dining.

The DxDP gives you 3TS credits per night of your stay. The basic plan gives you 1CS and 1TS per night of your stay. You can use those credits however you want. 4 one day, 2 another day, etc...
