We are staying at OKW for 5 nights, then moving to BWV for 7 nights on 9/9. We are getting the DDP for both reservations.

Will the DDP be split, as well? And if it is, I am assuming that the DDP credits on our OKW room keys will be good until midnight on the 9th, and the DDP on the BWV room keys will start when we check in on the 9th?

In other words, say we have 1 CS and 1 TS each left on 9/9 from our OKW stay. Do we still have all day to use those, just as we would if we were going home that day?

And say we had 1 CS left from our OKW stay....could we use that for lunch on 9/9, then use our credits from the DDP on our BWV key that starts on 9/9 for dinner?

Very confusing, I know. I figured someone here would know for sure, since so many DVCer's split stays. :)

Also, since we are changing resorts, is it possible to make the DDP for the entire length of the stay (all 12 nights)? Or would we have to split it since we are moving? I haven't added it to the OKW part of the stay yet, as I might make a change and figured I would just add it a few weeks before we go. :goodvibes

Let me say right up front that I'm not positive about this, but I think the answers to your questions are yes, yes, yes, and yes. The credits are tracked by the resort where you're staying, and I think all the answers to your questions flow from that.

However...yours is exactly the kind of situation where people have reported little glitches with their credits.

Sometimes, from what I've read, the problem arises when you check out of one resort and then check into another. If you just checked out, you'd probably be okay, but somehow computer magic occurs when you check back into another resort and that has created some issues on occasion.

The credits from the first resort are still good until midnight that night, but there have been situations where the DDP has been declined. The fix is to have the restaurant call the concierge at the resort where those credits came from. They should be able to bring your credit usage up and resolve any questions.

One tip I've seen a lot on the DDP board (and use personally) is to decline charging-to-the-room privileges. If there is a problem with DDP, you'd hope the server would come back and tell you there is a problem, but they don't always do that. Instead, the default response is, if there is a problem with the DDP, room-charge that check. So we pass on that convenience.

The DDP is split just as your reservations are. You will pay for the DDP at each resort. The credits are good until midnight of your check out date. We found the DDP to be too much food. We use the split stays to take a break from eating and to save some money. :tinker:

Thanks for the info!

Right now it looks as though we should have a CS left on the morning of checkout from OKW. We were thinking about just having that be a moving/DTD day, so i think we will stick with that plan, check out of OKW, head to DTD, have a CS lunch at Earl and use it up. Then go check in at BWV.

We are dining plan junkies. DH can eat his weight in food and I hold my own, considering I weigh 100 pounds. DS2 is also a BIG eater, so he and I usually share. We don't save tons of money with the DDP, usually just a little bit more than we would with the DDE. :)

Yes, we did something similar in January.

Also, since we are changing resorts, is it possible to make the DDP for the entire length of the stay (all 12 nights)?
I don't think so.

Or would we have to split it since we are moving?
I believe this is correct.

We did have this sort of problem However, it is difficult to attribute it to checking into the second resort since the cards for our first resort only worked ONE of the MANY times we tried to use them throughout the stay. Any time we went to guest services or the concierge they told us the credits were on our cards. Any time we tried to buy food they told us we didn't have credits. The fix was to charge it to the room and then have the concierge fix it later. (Btw, we were told that the problem was connected to us checking in on Jan 1st--the day the system switched.)
