Hello,

We are going to be flying in on a Tuesday night arriving around 10pm. I want to book a package with DDP but wondering if I will end up paying for a day that I cannot use? We are also leaving early on the last day, so there will be no chance to use it up for a breakfast on the last day. What are my best options? Can I only get DDP as part of a package? It has been a few years since we've been to Disney and I cannot remember how this works. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can only book the DDP for your whole stay. Which plan do you have? If it is the basic DDP then just book a couple signature meals or a show that takes 2 credits, or a nice character breakfast one day then you won't be wasting any DDP table credits.

Coming from So Cal we almost always arrive about 10-11 p.m. so I know what you're talking about. But you will have to book DDP for the entire trip as PP said. It looks like you are staying at POP. Are you going to be on the QSDP or the reg. DDP? I'm assuming you'll be paying for it, right? So if you don't think you will use the extra nights DDP credits you could book your first night as room only and then book another ressie, with DDP, starting the next day. When you book, and when you check in, mention that you will have a continuing ressie (I think that's the term) and you would like to stay in the same room if possible. They will try to accommodate you if possible. I would hold off unpacking until the next day (just in case you move).

We did this once (at POP) when we went from 1 room to 2 rooms (another guest was joining us) and we were able to keep the same room (and they were connecting) I received a voice mail message the night before that we would be able to stay in the same room and to come down in the a.m. to get our new KTTW for the new room. If you do switch rooms you will have to physically check out. You can have your luggage, etc. held at Luggage Services after you check out and they will deliver it to your new room when it's ready. Just be prepared that you won't have a room from check out to check in times. But that's only if you have to move.

You'll be able to pick up your new KTTW (with DDP on them) starting at 7 a.m. so it won't affect your park tickets or DDP credits. You can start using them once you get your new cards.

HTH.

Are you worried that your dining credits are allocated to you per day? If so, I could understand why you would think you might not be getting full use of DDP. That's not how the program works, though.

Disney DDP credits are given to you in their entirety when you check in. If, for example, you are staying 5 nights, then when you check-in you will receive a bank of 5 TS, 5 CS and 5 Snack Credits Plus Refillable Mug Credit per person. You can use this bank of credits any way you want within your stay at WDW. One or two days, you could double up on TS meals. Or use 2 TS credits at a Signature restaurant. You could double up on CS credits by getting a full CS breakfast as well as a CS lunch. The program is very flexible, and you can customize it to meet your needs and your schedule.
