DDP and Early Check-in??

I'm renting a DVC reservation at BCV in November. We're staying an extra night off property the night before to maximize an unusually short trip for our family.

If we're checking in early the next morning at BCV we realize our studio probably won't be available and would check our bags. We already have tickets.

My question is how would we utilize our DDP while in the parks that morning if DDP is tied to a room key?

I'm sure there is a simple answer from all you experts.

You will receive your room keys when you check in even if your room is not ready. In that case you will be instructed to call to check when your room is available. How early were you planning to arrive? I believe you cannot check in prior to 6 or 7 am and rooms are not ready generally till after 4 pm.

Oh my goodness, no! My family would kill me if I made them arrive that early.

I was thinking closer to 8 or 9 am, and hoped to take advantage of a TS DDP breakfast and a few hours at the park before settling into our room.

Your DVC room may be available sooner than you think. We had a trip to SSR in June and had booked a room the night before at Hotel Royal Plaza. That evening we went to the SSR desk to check on how early we could register and hopefully get our preference of room, since preferences are on a First Come basis. They actually offered us the room that Saturday night, if we had the points available. We had the points, but couldn't do it because the HRP rooms were paid for (AAA). This SSR cast member did take our preference and hold a room for us - but did caution if someone came in before our check-in day and requested that room they would have to release it.

We came back the next morning 8AM and registered. Our 2BR unit was ready immediately. We checked out the room, unloaded the car, then went back to HRP to get the rest of the crew. We were also able to have our prepurchased park tix scanned to our room keys - a great plus.
