So we have the DDP and we check in on Dec 31. Is it safe to assume we will have the 2016 dining plan? If so, how will the QS places know that we are entitled to a dessert with our QS meal?
I wish we could get the 2017 plan. I would much prefer the extra snack credit.

I am also checking in on the 31st. I am on hold right now to ask for some information. I would prefer the 2017 plan as well and will change to room only for the 31st if I need to. We don't even arrive at our resort until after 10:00pm. I will come back and post if I find anything out.

I doubt anyone knows the answer to this one right now, including Disney.

There may be one clue depending on when you booked your package. If you booked since the 2017 packages came out, what is the cost of your DDP? You may have to go in and make a "dummy" trip without the plan to figure this out, but if you're paying the 2017 price, my guess would be you will get the 2017 plan. Now how that will work for the 31st could be just as interesting as the other way around.

I think you'd have to do a totally separate room only reservation (and have to check out and back into a different room) in order to accomplish that. You can't have the DDP for just part of a reservation. It may be a lot of hassle.

Just got off the phone with a cast member. He told me we would have the 2016 dining plan. I considered a room only for the 31st, but need to research that a little bit more first. It may not be worth the trouble!

I just hope that when we eat at QS restaurants they are easily able to tell we have 2016 QS meals with the dessert vs 2017 meals without.

It's not as difficult as PP made it out to be. People do it all the time. You may have to change rooms, but you probably will not. Even if you do, it's not that difficult, especially within the same resort. If having the 2017 plan is important to you, do it.
