DH and I added the DDP to our upcoming trip. This will be our first time using this program. It's a good idea considering we love our TS meals and character TS meals. Since most cost around $22-$29 pp a meal, it's a great value for us.

Anyways, I digress. I've been looking at all the wonderful DDP meal reviews and pictures and WOW! That's a whole lot of food! I'm feeling nauseous looking at all of it :headache: . So I'm thinking about how we get a dessert at TS meals, but do we get them at CS meals too? DH isn't big on sweets...is there a way to sub out the dessert for something else?

What are some other common substitutions we can utilize with our meals?

yes you get a desert with CS meals and no there really is not a way to sub out the desert for something else.

You can get your desert to go. We do this often and it makes for a great nice midnight snack. At CS, you may be able to get a fruit cup instead of a sweet desert. I always notice a fruit cup under the desert menu at the CS locations.

You know.. you may get a lot of food... but you are NOT required to eat it all.

Too many people feel it is so much food... just don't eat it all... my boyfriend and I didn't and we had no problems on our vacation!

We just recently got back and used the DDP for the first time and I didn't find it to be too much food. :confused3 Maybe we're just big eaters and hadn't realized it before. There were only a couple of times we either skipped dessert or took it to go. I think what worked for us though was that pretty much all of our ADR's were for lunch and so we could just munch on something for breakfast and by the time lunch came around we were starving and then we would have dinner at a CS.

The desserts for CS vary by location also. Check out the menu's on allearsnet to find out. For example at Flame Tree in AK you can get a frozen lemonade as a dessert (it is listed on the regular menu as a dessert) which I wouldn't exactly call a sweet. It actually was very refreshing.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the subject.

Mr.Pig, thanks for that info on the frozen lemonade! That's a fave of mine.

I guess I need to spend some more time scoping out the allearsnet menus and looking at the different options.

My biggest concern with the food was a dessert going to waste just because it would be too much. If it coud be substituted out and get a frozen drink or a bowl of fruit, that would work :)

My sister overheard someone else getting a side order instead of dessert using CS, so she asked and was able to do the same thing. The CMs are generally pretty reasonable about this sort of thing.
