Ddp And 10 Yo

Macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and grilled cheese are very common meals for children in the United States. I've never heard of tuna jacket potato, so I suspect there isn't any place you'll find it on the children's menus at WDW.

I am planning to purchase the adult plan for my son who will be 9 during our trip. In Oct, he hated the kids food and watched his 10 year old brother eat filet and ribs while he had pita pizza and dry, bland chicken strips. I know the kids menu has improved, but he likes adult food better.

It may be different for me though, we are DVC members and the DDP is not tied to rooms/tickets for us. We don't qualify for the free dining either. I am guessing that Disney wouldn't care if I bought the adult plan for my son. My DD 5 would be happy eating mac n cheese or a cheeseburger for every meal, so I have no problems with her!

Hehe... that would be a dream. My guess would be that if they had a junior price, the pricing for the Dining Plan would be $10.99 (3-9) / $34.99 (9-14) / $41.99 (14+). (Note how the 14+ price goes up to account for the 9-14 price going down.)

JMO, but Disney seems to price based on what the market will pay. Using your logic Disney should have lowered the adult price when they changed the age for the kids menu to account for the 10-12 age group going up.

That said restaurants seem to be pretty busy. I don't think the lack of junior pricing is keeping that many customers away. I doubt Disney would get enough extra business for Disney to even consider absorbing the impact of junior pricing.

I have two girls 7 and 10, one will be a "child" and the other will be an "adult" with the dining plan. The 7 "child" is looking at the adult menu and trying to get her sister to order things she likes so they can share the meals. I think this will be great. The old reliable Mac and cheese from the kids meal and the adult "GOOD" foods too!

I was wondering about this. If my DD7 orders something from the child's menu and DD10 orders her adult selection are they allowed to switch?

Its a jacket potatoe with tuna and mayonise in the middle (split the potatoe in two and dump loads of tuna in the middle!).My DH loves these and most cs type places would sell them over here.Mainly kids meals tend to be chicken nuggets and chips, sausage and chips, pasta maybe or a child size roast dinner(meat, poatoes, veg and gravy)or may be pizza.
Usually if we have a cs type meals DD13 has a fresly made sandwich,DD9 a tuna sandwich or a Mac Donalds Happy Meal.

Who's to say they didn't? Remember, not raising prices, when you normally would raise prices, is a common way of lowering prices.

I've never heard of it! I think that's very uncommon, or perhaps unheard-of, at theme park eateries in the US.

I JUST BOOKED OUR UPCOMING TRIP FOR SEPTEMBER 2007 WITH DDP THRU DISNEY TRAVEL. MY DAUGHTER WILL BE 7 AND DOES NOT LIKE "CHICKEN STRIPS, MACARONI AND CHEESE--NORMAL KID FOODS". TRAVEL REP PUT HER IN AS A 10 YEAR OLD. I KNOW ITS MORE EXPENSIVE AND SHE WILL HAVE WAY TOO MUCH FOOD TO EAT, BUT AT LEAST I KNOW THERE WILL BE SOMETHING SHE WILL LIKE ON THE ADULT MENU.:cheer2: :yay:  :rotfl:

Check out allearsnet.com for a reasonable idea of what kids meals might be at each place. While you might find a baked potato (our word for it) here and there (we do eat them a lot, but not everywhere in WDW has them), it's extremely unlikely you'll find one with tuna - more likely to have sour cream, cheese, bacon, or broccoli, etc.

Travel to another country/region almost always involves getting used to a new food scheme. For us, it's part of the fun. :)

(Good sandwiches can be had at Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney.....)
