I am reading alot of the posts and I still an not sure if the DDP 08 is worth it or not.

Is it safe to say it really is not worth it simnce the tip is included ?

That is for each person to decide on their own. As for me, I went through the menus and calculated what we would spend each day on a CS, TS, and a snack. I added it all up and still came out ahead, even if it was only slightly. So we'll be doing the DDP, whether or not we get the free dining. I like the freedom of ordering whatever I want, not having to look at the prices. And even with the tip having to be added, it is still convenient for me. I'll just have to budget the tips before we go.

Exactly -- everyone's math will be different, and it can be complicated.

For us, we always stay in DVC, so we're not paying any room rate premium to get DDP. We also do not have any ticket purchase requirement. We also drive to WDW, so we always have a car available and that opens up many more dining options. And, finally, we are 2A/1C.

In that equation, the old DDP was only a very modest savings to us, and DDP 2008 will cost us money if we eat onsite. If we compare DDP to eating almost exclusively OFFsite, DDP is much more expensive.

But your options and math will be different from ours. Be sure to include any extra you have to pay for the room as a part of the cost of DDP, and if you have to purchase tickets you would not ordinarily purchase, that's an additional DDP cost too. And finally, don't make the mistake of comparing the DDP cost to the inflated menu prices -- compare DDP cost to what you would actually eat if you were paying cash.

Even considering all of that, some families will still find DDP to be cost-effective. It's not the great plan it once was, and there are a lot of other options, but DDP will still be the best option for many.
