With all the talk of the price of DDE going up, it's making me think, I don't really know the logistics of the DDE and I would like to get it for next year.

We plan to get APs soon (in the next few months probably at least 1, with the rest to come by the summer time). We will have the vouchers, but not activate them and get passes until August. If I want to get the DDE Card how would I go about doing so? Can I get it before our trip with just the vouchers? If so, does it start up when I get the card or the first time I use it (like the APs)? Or can I not get it until I have an activated AP?

Any info is appreciated.

Figure it this way - DDE card is going to be $60 I think. You would have to eat $300 worth of TS meals in order for the card to pay for itself. If eating any more than $300, you will have paid for the card and any savings after that is true savings. So, if you eat a lot of TS and are going for an extended trip or more than one trip in a 12-month period, you will probably save $$.

If you aren't going until August, you can order your DDE card with the voucher. It doesn't work like AP, it starts when you order it and expires 12 months later. So, order it at the end of July, it will expire August 31, 2007. Even if you don't get your card, that's OK. You can pick up your temporary card at Epcot Guest Services for your August trip when you get there.

Thanks so much for the info! I know I definitely want it since we are looking at 3 trips for 4 of us and a 4th trip for just me from Aug-July, so we will definitely make out in the deal. I just wasnt sure how to go about getting it and when. That explains it perfectly though. Thanks!

Do you know how long it usually takes to get it? And if I ordered it at the beginning of July 06 it would be valid through July 31st 2007, correct?

I think it has been taking about 3-4 weeks, sometimes quicker. You need to wait until after the first week of the month I believe, to make it valid through the following month. When you call, they can tell you what the expiration date would be and when to call back. If the CM you get doesn't know, just call back or ask to speak to someone else. They are usually really helpful.

I just ordered mine today and the CM told me 3-5 weeks.
