dde

From what I read previously, you would need two different DDE accounts. Even if you broke into two groups of 10, it would be the same DDE account on both cards if two people shared an account.
That was not the case when I took 20. Nope. Of course then, the limit was 6 diners per card. The server took both cards, rang up 12 people with the discount (6 per card), then rang up the other 8 separately at full price. We paid all on one credit card, but did have to sign 2 slips....one slip for the discounted tab for 12, and one slip for the non-discounted tab for 8. This, of courese, was my own experience, and YMMV.

Thanks for the report. It's very common that implementation is often different than the written rules. The DDE rules also say that one check can't be split up to do as you described so it's good to know this may vary as well.

RE:AP and Fla resident: I thought I read on Mousesavers that you did not have to have AP or be a Fla resident for this card?

Also, are they transferable? I assume not. But my mom is a Fla resident. Can she get the card for me? She is a single person, so if they give 2 cards, can she give one to me?

Where do you sign up to get these cards?

You may be thinking of the Disney Dining Plan. You must be a Florida resident or have an AP to purchase the DDE.

You can get two cards on one account but both are supposed to reside at the same address. You may be asked for proof of FL residence.

Can only sign-up over the phone. Phone number should be on Mousesavers as well.

When the AP discounted rate for the DDE was first announced, there was some confusion. Some people were able to get the card without being either an annual passholders or a Florida resident. That is no longer true. You must be either a Florida resident (cost is $75) or an annual passholder (cost is $50) to purchase the DDE card.

Your assumption is correct.

No, she can't. My understanding is that the extra card is supposed to be for a spouse. It wouldn't hurt for your Mom could call and ask though.

Youll find that info (and more) here.

Best wishes -

We just returned from using the card and wanted to point out that each time we presented the card, the server made sure the cards were ours by either checking i.d. or the name on the credit card we were paying with. The CM at the food court we were using said they do this because so many people try to buy one card for several different families to use. It's a shame someone always tries to take advantage of the system.

So the person with the card has to pay?
For example, I am out w/ my mom, she as a Fla. resident has the card. I want to pay w/ my room key or credit card. Is it so, then that we cannot get the discount even if mom is present, but not paying w/ her credit card?

How does one go about getting the DDE card? I can find no information about it at all on www.disney.com. I don't know how anyone even knows this exists except by reading aobut it on here.

Once again, I can only tell you my experience, and YMMV.

When DH and I have dined just the 2 of us or just with our kids, they have checked the name on the DDE card with the name on the credit card. We both have a DDE card and credit card, so whoever is paying (whoever is not helping kids finish eating!) gets out their credit card and DDE card so we've never not matched.

When we dined with the group of 20, they allowed DFIL to pay (he's a peach of a guy!) after we verified that it was our card by showing our IDs with the DDE cards. :)

Personally I like that they verify! Keeps everyone as honest as me! :sunny:

No, but they may ask to see the the card holder's ID to verify the card belongs to someone in your party.

That is good thta there is some sort of verification. I know my mom would want to use the card if she had one, because she would only be in WDW with us, however, I do not want her to have to put it on her credit card.

Thanks for the quick responses.
