I've just begun to look into understanding what the DDE is/iinvolves. We leave here on Thursday for our trip (!). Is it too late to look into doing this? From what I've read, you first have a letter sent to you confirming having purchased a DDE plan and that a card is later sent (which they are apparantly very slow in getting out). My main question is, if we purchase this, is there somewhere at WDW where we can pick up our letter since there would not be enough time to get it in the mail before we leave?

Yep, they can tell you where to pick up your letter when you call to order your cards. I believe it is at Epcot guest services but I could be wrong.

We bought our DDE card while at Epcot last week. Just so you know, they deliver the letter to Guest Relations at 5:30pm, so if you have a PS before that, you will not be able to get your discount.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy that 20% off! We saved $10-15 at each meal!

NOTE: Allow 4-6 weeks for processing. If you will be visiting Walt Disney World before you receive your membership card, DDE will fax or mail a letter of authorization to your home. If regular mail or fax isn't practical (e.g. your trip to WDW is within a few days), or if you're already at Walt Disney World, you can arrange to pick up a letter of authorization from a Guest Relations office. You will need to show a photo I.D.

WDW will no longer send a letter to your home. Instead, you will have to collect it from Guest Services at WDW -- if there's not time for your card to arrive prior to your trip. Dh forgot to order our card. He ended up calling on the Friday afternoon prior to our Saturday arrival. The letter was waiting for us Saturday afternoon with no problems.
