I am thinking of buying a AP with my DVC discount. is there an additional discount for the DDE? If so, how much? thank you for your anticipated responses.

Yep, there sure is. With an AP, the DDE is $60/year (plus an additional $25 if you want an additional second card). :thumbsup2 DH and I decided to go with just one card, since it's very rare that we wouldn't be eating together. It paid for itself very quickly, especially since it's good on alcoholic beverages as well. :drinking1

You don't get a discount on the actual purchase of DDE (I believe the card is now $60 with a $25 charge for a second card), but the DDE card gives you a 20% discount on table service meals and, in resorts that have counter service only, those particular counter service facilities. We had a DDE card in 2005 and saved over $600 over two trips. We'll be doing the same thing in 2007. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Actually, the DDE for florida residents without an AP is $85, so given that anyone FL resident or not, that has an AP can purcase the card for $60, it is a $25 discount on the card itself.

Wouldn't it be great if you could use the DDE to get a discount on the DDP!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Now that would be an efficient use of Disney discounts.

I think giving DVC members access to the DDE would be "efficient."

:thumbsup2

We have access to it; we just don't get a discount. It's pretty much like our access to the DDP -- we pay the same price as everyone else (except we don't have to buy park tickets).

I mean the same access as AP holders WITHOUT having to buy an AP. Don't we have to buy an AP?

Yes you either have to have an AP or be a FL resident.

I need to order my DDE card for our Dec. trip in about a week. Do they add some kind of tax or shipping to the $60 cost of the card?

When I ordered mine back in April I was charged exactly $60.

I ordered 2 and paid 85- and they'll expire the end of Oct. 2007, if I ordered after Nov. 2nd she said that they'd be good until the end of Dec 2007. I didn't want to chance it and ordered it the beginning of Oct. (if they don't come in time you can always pick them up in Epcot)

There's a trick to ordering the DDE, which may or may not apply to your situation.

The card is good for about 13 months from the time it's issued. If you expect that expiration date to be right in the timeframe where you expect to be making another trip, ask the CM for the exact expriation date when you order. They know, and will tell you. When I bought ours, the CM told me not to order it on my original call and gave me the exact date to call back, because doing that meant we got three trips on the card instead of two.

You can wait until the last minute to order if that serves you better. You can pick up a temporary card at Epcot Guest Services and that will work just as well as the plastic card.

I'm thinking you could use your AP to get a discount on DDE, which would give you a discount on DDP, which would give you a discount on your AP. Trot around the circle a few times and everything's free!

We are doing a couple big family trips in one year so we bought the DDE card.

We came out ahead with the savings on our the first trip.

Have my AP voucher and will be checking in on a Sunday so it won't be activated until then or the Monday. Will they accept the voucher number to order DDE?
