DDE-worth it??

We're annual passholders, we're going for 5 days in September to the AKL. We plan on eating in both quick service restuarants (breakfast & lunch) and sit down restaurants for dinner. Is the DDE worth it?? How much does it cost and what are the savings?? plase advise. Its a family of 2A & 2K. Thanks in advance for the help!

I feel like it's worth it, especially if you're not already on the dining plan. I was just there with 2 girlfriends for a long weekend and we saved almost $50 in just 3 days. It's almost paid for itself!

Don't forget, when using the DDE, they add on an 18% gratuity. You may add more, if you'd like.

I think it's $60, meaning you'd have to spend $300 to get your savings. For five days you may or may not hit that, but you said you're AP holders, so if you're planning on going back it should definitely be worth it. Don't forget it discounts drinks, too!

I'd say it's totally worth it, especially if: you are doing any pricier, signature dining or character meals; if you are driving to the resorts for dinner (last trip we saved $40 in valet parking alone); if you enjoy a drink or glass of wine with dinner. Plus if you buy it when you get there it will be good for 12-13 months, and as Illuminations mentioned you can use it again for your next trip.

It is definitely worth it for my family (we have 6 to 8 people when we go to WDW). Because we're a large group, it paid for itself in less than 2 meals - you need to spend $300 to break even. We've used it on 2 weeklong trips so far and we'll get one more week in before it expires. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting an AP next year and I'm really going to miss my DDE card. I know there's been some talk of the 18% automatic gratuity, but it has no effect on us as we generally tip more than that anyway.
