DDE When to order?

We are considering getting a DDE card for our June trip. If I remember correctly, I've seen suggestions of ordering this early. When does the clock start ticking on the year? Are you given a voucher similar to an AP? Or does your year start when it is issued?

Your year starts when it is issued. We ordered ours a week before we left for WDW and just picked up a temporary card at guest relations at the front of Epcot. This way, we're getting in two December trips with the card.

From what I have read - I hope I am right...

DDE - may take up to 6 weeks to get the card in the mail.

If not received, you go to EPCOT (only place) guest relations to get a paper copy to use for discounts.

Also - I heard if you order after the 7th of a month it does not expire till 13 months later.... We are ordering ours on May 8th, we leave on June 24th.
We active our AP's on June 24th - then AP's good till June 23, 2007 AND
our DDE should be good till June 29, 2007.
Both, DDE & AP, will be ready and able for our Easter 2007 adventure

I ordered the renewal for my DDE card in late February and still have not recieved the actual card. My next trip is not until May so I stil have some time.
