Just curious, if you purchase DDE, how are the tax and tip figured. Are the tax and tip calculated prior to the 20% discount?

I figured this out from my May receipts. I just hope that I don't confuse you!;)

20% is taken off original price
6.5% tax is added to this new price
18%(tip) is taken off original price and added to new price

Here is an example:

Your meal totals : $50
20% off:*******-10
************* ------
b4 tax & tip **** $40
6.5% tax *******+ 2.60
************* -------
b4 tip********* $42.60
18% tip******** + 9.00 ***18% of original price, not discounted price*
************* --------
Final Total******$51.60

Easiest way to "guesstimate" what your bills will be is to find out the original price and add a couple of dollars. All meals for our current trip have come to $1-$3 above original price.:thumbsup2

but in resort food courts and some of the other counter service places that accept DDE.....the tip is not there......we really enjoyed the amount we saved from our resort and also our sit down restaurants.....it is really amazing how fast the savings mount up...

We look at it this way - if you usually tip about 20%, the DDE covers the tip. And tips add up fast if you eat several meals at TS restaurants per trip with a family! It's saved us quite a bit of money. We especially like that it covers alcohol, which can really spike a meal's bill upward. We like a drink or wine with lunch or dinner - plus maybe a trip or two to the resort lounge while we're there, and 20% off Disney's overpriced booze really helps.

Word. We do enjoy the wine so yeah, every little bit helps. As folks who prefer TS, the DDE has saved so much money over the years. One party of 8 adults at Jiko, and we're in the black. Last trip we saved $40 just in valet parking. FWIW.
