DDE Question

First off I'm sorry I'm making this a more complicated than it has to be question. Can we buy the ap with dde on it for a child that requires an adult ticket ? We bought myw tickets for everyone prior to buying dvc so we plan to use those for everyone except for our one 12 yr old niece, she spends the school year with us and the summers with her biological grandparents on her other side of the family. We were not sure she would be able to go with us this year so we didn't buy her a ticket. But now that plans are made she will be able to go, so we thought it might be worth the extra to buy the ap/dde vs a myw ticket. On another note if she is not able to make next year's trip could we take her ap/dde with us and still use the discount? If we can do this can anyone tell me if we will save enough to make it worth the extra $175, Looking at our what we know we will do for sure meal plans I can see about $36 savings in just chef mickey, Planet Holleywood, and ice cream at Beaches and Cream. But not sure beyond that. And I definately don't know about next year.

(Also it doesn't make sense for us to trade one of our myw since they are for 10 plus 5 days and this is almost enough days for 3 years' trips.)

Thank you all so much for answering all my questions.

I'm not 100% certain I understand your question, but I think I see a flaw in your plan. The person whose name is on the DDE card must be present at the restaurant - with proof of ID if asked for. Just having her AP & DDE will not get you the 20%. However, we had to show the "paper" in May as our card had not arrived and I was never once asked to prove who I was.

It has to be an adult over 21. A voucher is not linked to a name, you could order it in your name and then use that # to buy a DDE card. Then when you activate it, put her name on it.

I am not exactly sure WHAT you are asking here, but you only need one DDE card per 10 people. So you don't have to order one for every family member.
I think this is where your question lies. It is a wonderful program that allowes you to have 10 people on one card as long as you are paying on one ticket. We have taken friends and family with us to dine at WDW now and all have enjoyed the 20% off. (we actually paid for everything on our last trip, figured it all up afterwards and divided the total cost after the 20% for our friends that were vacationing with us).

As for the AP, I would wait and see if your niece was actually going to use it. It only takes a sec to buy one on sight so if she can go and will get use out of it, you can buy it when you go. No need to buy hers in advance if you aren't sure. (Not to get into the technical side of the AP discount program, but I am assumming you have custody of your niece, or she is under your care enough to qualify. Technically, I am not sure how it would work for you...but the details of who you can get the discount for are listed on the dvc member website. Might also want to check into that)

Maybe I'm really confused on the dde thing. A friend told me you can only buy dde if you are an annual pass holder. So I was going to buy my niece an annual pass in order to buy the dde. I figured if I bought it on her annual pass then it would have to be in her name as well. Or can I get the dde in my name even though the annual pass is for her?

Yes she applies to getting my dvc discount because she lives in our household and ours is her legal address.

I'm still trying to figure out if we'll get enough savings to make it worth the extra cost of the annual pass.
Thanks so much .

Ahhh I think I am understanding now. Unless your niece is over the age of 21, I don't think she is eligible for the DDE on HER AP (even thought it would be an adult AP), but I am not 100% on that. No one else in your party has one? It doesn't have to be one you bought with the DVC discount to get the DDE card. Any person holding an AP now is eligible (if they meet the age requirements).

Remember, the DDE holder has to be the one paying the bill!

Ok I now understand, I'd need to have the ap and dde in mine or dh's name. I'm not sure it's worth the cost. You are all so helpful, thank you very much.
