DDE question...

how far in advance should i order my DDE card? just wondering about their turn-around time.....

also - anyone know who i should get in touch with to do that? i'm guessing it's not MS....maybe i can do it via the internet somehow?

Can someone tell me what DDE is? Is this for DVC members only? We just joined (signed our papers last week!!!) I keep seeing DDE mentioned but am not familiar with what it is/cost/etc.... help enlighten me??

The DDE is not a DVC perk, it is available if you have an Annual Pass or are a Florida Resident. Here are some details:

DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE:

In 2006, become a member in the Disney Dining Experience program for $60.00 for AP holders, $85 for non-passholder FL residents, and add a second membership for your spouse or partner for $25.00.

The Disney Dining Experience gives you:

20% off of food and beverages at over 70 Disney Resort hotel and Theme Park Restaurants. (Discount is good for up to 10 guests.)
Theme Park and Resort parking for dining purposes
Member-Only invitations to exclusive events
Annual Passholders can join up by calling 407-566-5858 (Mon-Fri, 9:00am to 6pm EST). The Disney Dining Experience is not accepted during holidays, including New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for processing.

It takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to get the real DDE card. But you can get a temporary card sooner. When we were down in March I had to pick up my AP's first...once I got my AP's I called the DDE people and ordered the card. I called at 11:00AM from my cell at Epcots gate and the temp card was waiting at customer relations by 5:00pm the same day. You may be cutting it close since I see your departure date is in 1 month...the DDE people will let you know if its feasible or not. Also make sure you have your AP's in hand because they want all the numbers off the back. Good Luck.....

DDE is also not open weekends for purchase so you need to have that request in by early on a Friday morning at the latest if you plan to pick them up at the EPCOT guest relations window while you are there and are arriving over the weekend. We did the same as the above poster last Sept and the card is good through October of this year. The permanent cards arrived a week or two after we got home.

It actually took less than 2 weeks for ours to arrive last fall. We got the AP vouchers and ordered the DDE card the 4th week of November. It arrived before the 10th of December. We needed it to be in effect through next December's trip.

One more question. If I go into the Rose and Crown and just order a couple of pints, my mouth is watering just thinking about it, do I get 20% off? Or do I have to be ordering food?

You should be able to order adult drinks at any of the participating restaurants. We had drinks only at Tambu Bar before they started serving appetizers for the day so know you don't need to have food - just think you have to be in the participating location.

If you order after the 15th of the month, it will come with an expiration of 12 months from the NEXT month.
