Who can help me out? I'm thinking about upgrading to an AP. DDE would be an option then and it does sounds temping. I'm probably not looking right, but I can't find the answer to a question I've got about it, so decided somebody on the DIS for sure will know.

If I were to buy the DDE, can I use it for all the people on the same reservation, or not? Also; does it matter if the people on this one reservation are spread out into more than one room?

TIA!

The DDE is good for a discount on your entire dining party (up to 10). There is no requirement for everybody to be staying in the same accommodation, or even actually staying at WDW.

and there are no silly questions.......we are all in this together so ....lets keep us all informed.......if you know something and can answer other peoples questions then you are helping them ...as some one is now helping you....

I use the dde too and love it. We are going as a group and we will probably have either six or nine at some of our dinners.....

*You* will need to be the one who pays the bill, however. (i.e. They won't issue split checks and give everyone in your party the discount.) The discount only applies to your check.

Everytime I used it in January, I was asked to also show my DL. In years past, I was able to simply show my AP which has my name on it or even my room key with my name. They specifically wanted to see my DL this January.

Also, I was taken by surprise when I was unable to use my card on 1/4. I haven't been keeping up with all things WDW, so I didn't realize that you can't use it during the holiday upcharge periods. It was on my paper with the list of participating locations, but I only read the fine print as a last resort.:lmao:

Thnx for the very quick answers! :goodvibes

Good to know it is thát easy. Really makes it worth looking into if I do go for an AP. Or better said; if I do decide to book a trip for fall of 2009. With our 2 weeks in dec 2008, I would be crazy not to get an AP and it looks like it's silly not to get the DDE then either.

DanDave, that wont be a problem. I'll be there. If it weren't for me my parents wouldn't be going so they could at least eat with me. ;) No seriously; we're not the type to split bills in the restaurant. We'll just take care of that later in the room or at home. We don't like to hassle with that stuff during diner.

I knew about the holiday upcharge periods and that is something that has me wondering a bit. It seems Disney is really adding a lot more days to those periods. If they keep up doing that, DDE would maby be less attractive.

I knew the cardholder had to be present, but I've never had them check my ID. Was that in 2007 or just in 2008?

I was there in Jan and July 2007 and my ID was never checked. Not that it matters, just curious.

goofieslonglostsis, WDW does seem to be slowly pulling back in that discount rope. With the gratuity gone from the DDP and the holiday upcharges, it all seems somewhat petty. I guess most of us are complaining with our words instead of our vacation dollars, though. I know I'm guilty. I'd be booked for September as well as my other '08 trips, if the room I want were available.

Jaymie, The only time I went in '07 was during the Free Dining. We had taken a WDW break to do Universal. I think the last time I had bought the DDE card was in 2006. I just bought this one on the 4th of Jan.

Actually even someone else can pay the bill. The cardholder just needs to be present.
Occasionally a CM will ask for ID. This has happened to us rarely since our debit card and DDE card read the same name.
I did not know about 1/4 not being good. :confused3 Luckily we did not try to use it.
We ate at Turf Club last night and the tip was added, as I expected. I am glad I knew that as I saw DH getting ready to add the tip. The server would have been quite happy. :lmao:

I hope the OP doesn't mind if I jump in with a question. :)
My grandparents were thinking of getting the DDE (FL resident). If my grandmother buys a card, can my grandfather use it? (Is it transferrable?) Or, would my grandmother need to be with him? Thanks:goodvibes

Only the person who buys the card can use it. The other spouse living at the same address can purchase an additional card in his/her name for $25 more.
