I am a newbie to the world of AP, after many trips I have crossed into a new world of going whenever I want :goodvibes . I am about to go down again and have decided to get the DDE. I will go to the DTD guest relations to purchase/pick up my card. --- Besides that I am pretty much stumped as to how/when its appropriate to use. I understand its for table service resturants, and for use with up to 10 guests as well as drinks. Do I tell the casts members before we order or when the check comes?? any other details I need to know???

I know---I am a worried about nothing, but help calm my nerves.

Thanks in advance. :)

We purchased the DDE card for the first time during our trip a few weeks ago. We would tell our server that we had the DDE card when they would ask us if we were on the dining plan. They usually would forget that we had a DDE card until after the bill came, but they would just take the card and and redo the bill. You can use it at almost every table service restaurant and I believe there are a couple of counter service restaurants you can use it at also. They will give you a piece of paper listing all participating restaurants when you buy the card. They also automatically add an 18% gratuity to the bill when you use the card. We never had one problem using the card and we ate at nine different table service restaurants during this trip.

It is good at all Walt Disney World owned TS locations in the parks, and resorts. It is not good at some places in Epcot (Japan comes to mind) and most DTD locations as they are independently owned. Check your AP though, as some have an AP discount on entrees only. You may also use the discount at the All stars and POP foodcourt as well as PORFQ, and Pizzafari, and Flame tree BBQ at AK. Befeor you are seated the y will ask if you are on a Dining plan and after you are seated your server will most likely ask that again. I mention we have the expereince card and are planning on using it. Last month I was asked for photo id with it every time it was used. And just an interesting aside in 14 days and 18 restaurants I was told only twice that the tip was included, and some "extra helpful servers" folded all reciepts around my CC and just left the final reciept to add a tip and total--needless to say there were only two people who received extra tip beyond the 18% that was added in. My favorite wa sthe server who used a red pen to x where the tip would go so I could be sure to add that befoer totalling!:scared1: BTW it was good I read the boards since I was given nothing when I purchased it to share that the 18% would be added in automatically.

We had that happen to us a few times too!! We laughed when we saw the "X" showing us where the tip should go. My son would just put his own big "X" on the line where you would write in the tip amount. We never had service that would warrant anything above the 18%.

It's good at a number of restaurants that are not Disney owned, but some of them - like the Japan restaurants and Yak & Yeti - have declined to accept DDE.

It's also good at about 8 counter service restaurants - mostly the value food courts and the AK counter service - but also at SSR counter service and POFQ counter service.

Thank you all for the wonderful information. I knew I could count on my fellow DISer's for the right info!!!:thumbsup2

As stated above it is good at a few CS locations too. The CM gave me a list of locations that accept it but I found it easier just to ask each time I was buying food (I never allowed it to dictate where I ate), and I just gave them my card with my payment.

No tip on CS meals. And you can't use it for CS meals at AKL, just the AK park.

They will give you a list of participating restaurants when you buy the DDE so just check the list once you get it. Also you can use it for free valet parking at the wdw resorts if you are eating there. You'll just have to show the DDE card.

We never have told any of servers before the meal that we had the DDE. Since it's in my name, I just put my KTTW card and the DDE card in with the bill. Never had a problem.
